Woah, woah, guys. Settle down already. What's done is done. NHC named the cyclone Franklin and there's nothing any of us can do about it.

Franklin is back down to a 40 mph tropical storm and is streaking off to the ENE. It should become post-tropical in the next 24-36 hours at most, if not sooner.

Something's not right there: I don't think it's possible for both 92L and 93L to have the exact same model tracks.

I'm guilty of attacking others here on the forums for political views, I'll admit it. But I think this forum has proven we can talk about political issues in a civilized manner. Political debates, when done right, are enlightening, allow a unique perspective to an issue, and it makes us smarter in the long run. I think all of us here can do that if we put aside our bias and our assumptions about opposing views and discuss matters with an open mind.

I will publicly apologize for any remarks I have made here on the forums that may have offended another member(s). The last thing I want here is to make an enemy.

Are the markets going to continue to drop to levels even lower than the great depression, to the point where the entire country will collapse for years?

"S&P: No regrets in lowering U.S. credit rating"

No regrets? Wow, just wow.

Sorry, but I don't understand what you mean by "Wow, just wow." Can you explain that?

Well, the markets certainly took a nosedive in response to the credit rating downgrade.

Dow: 10,810.83 633.78 (-5.54%)
NASDAQ: 2,358 174.72 (-6.90%)
S&P 500: 1,119 79.92 (-6.66%)

I've even wondered about starting a weather trivia game on this forum if anyone is interested.

You know my answer to that - a big old yes from me.

I haven't seen this segment yet, but it sounds very intriguing - not to mention extremely humorous.

General Discussion / Re: Economy Tracker
« on: August 06, 2011, 05:25:33 PM »
If you're gonna talk economy, don't forget this giant piece of news that came out yesterday. Standard and Poors has downgraded the United States credit rating to AA+ from AAA...the first time it has been downgraded in the nation's history. Because of this, expect interest rates to go up slightly on loans, any credit card debt, mortgages, car loans...anything like that.

AKA: Be prepared for things to get a little more expensive.
