50F and lows dropping to the upper 30's. This sucks

I wouldn't mind that weather. What sucks about it?

I've been living in North Jersey for a little over a month now and I notice that I'm starting to pick up a New York accent (commonly heard in north jersey) now. Whenever I say "coffee" , "hot dog" or "walk", I pronounce it as "cawwfee, hot dawwg or 'wawwk'. I don't remember speaking words like that. I'm puzzled - do you just pick up accents naturally?

I think they do. I've only been here for two months and my "O" is sounding more and more like a "U." Which is actually awesome, seeing that I love northern accents.  :bleh:

Winter Weather / Winter Storm Thread: 2011-12 Season
« on: October 05, 2011, 01:23:32 PM »
It's only the first week of October, but after seeing the first Winter Storm Warnings of the winter season across the Sierra Nevada and parts of the Rockies, I figured this thread should be opened up. Any winter storm coming around that you think should be mentioned? Post about it here!

I'm personally hoping for an active winter, although not near as active as last year. The fact that La Nina is back in play suggests that, once again, New England and the Northern Plains could be facing a rough one. The Southeast may get to see some snow too, depending on the overall weather pattern.

It's not just inconsiderate and childish, it's illegal. A Class C felony, whatever that means.  :hammer:

Fire alarm number eight went off last night, at about 4 in the morning. Someone in our dorm finds it funny to pull the thing every Tuesday or Wednesday of the week, and anyone who knows who is doing it is not turning the person in. I never saw the dorm faculty, the firefighters, or the cops so livid last night.

Just as long as you're not learning to drive in TEXAS...ugh. I find it extremely hilarous that the "Welcome to Texas" road signs have writing underneath that say "Drive Friendly, the Texas Way." Well, if we all drove the "Texas way," we would probably never want to get in another vehicle again. Where do I begin? Slow drivers in left lanes, lack of turn signals, etc...

And as far as traffic goes, well, let's just say that in Dallas a new interchange was being built a few years ago to relieve congestion. The product? WORSE traffic!!! The roads and the drivers in Texas has a lot to be desired.

At least when you get out in the middle of nowhere in Texas, you get to legally go 80 on the interstate. In South Carolina, I can only go 70. At least in North Dakota, it's 75.

Guess who got his first driving... lesson today?

You know who.

I know - welcome to hell.
Yay!!! I still love driving. The thrill of it hasn't warn off yet except for those nasty traffic jams. Hopefully that isn't too bad for your area. It seems a lot harder at first then it really is. You catch on quick!

I live in a primarily rural/small urban city area, the only time I would really run into crud is being in Dothan which I have promised myself I will not go near unless it is after 9am but not during 11am-1pm and after 5pm with the exception of after 7pm. Jeeze, thinking about it makes me paranoid.

I've only got about 51 weeks before I can take my permit test  lol

I can guarantee you Dothan is nothing like Atlanta. My apologies in advance to anyone who lives in the Atlanta area, but my worst driving experiences were in that town.

Looks like NHC completely underestimated Ophelia's wind speeds. She's now a major hurricane.

Congratulations, wxmediafan! I'm doing the same thing, working the Wednesday shifts for our weather show. We have a green screen, the cameras, the lights, the graphics, the soundboard, and everything else. And we have a team of 2 (which is what I'm on) making the on-show graphics on TruVu. I'm slowly getting better at working with WSI, but it's not an easy program to learn.
