I, too, may not be on too much. Final's week commences starting Wednesday. I'll be done on the 13th, and I'll be flying home on the 15th. At which point I will be off until February 6th.

This will be my last day on TWCT for a while. I don't feel completely welcome here, nor in the TWC community anymore. If you want or need to talk to me, PM me and I'll answer, but otherwise - I won't be posting until likely after the new year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Sorry to hear that, Austin. Hope you'll come back soon. Until then, enjoy your holidays!

I am happy to report that the issue at hand as been resolved. I would also like to apologize to all of you for being wildly over-reactive about this matter. In hindsight, this was not that big of a deal, and we shouldn't have made it one. I hope you can accept this apology on behalf of myself and Donovan.

34 degrees under overcast skies. Southerly winds at 10 mph bringing warm air from the south. Well above average by about 9 degrees. Much colder nights ahead, with lows possibly below zero on Thursday. :D

Thankfully, that is incorrect. The website has not been deleted, but is undergoing security upgrades. The project is still green-lighted, and is still being worked on. We will have the entire thing done by the end of the year.

A nice little touch to it, Zach! We've also done a little minor sprucing up on our website as well, but not near as much as you did.

Admins, please understand that the story behind this is that a certain member of these forums (PM me for the ID) has been caught stealing Donovan and I's graphics.

This is a fair warning to anyone interested in Donovan's graphics, and I speak on behalf of The Weather Center Organization. Thievery of Donovan's graphics is also stealing graphics from our website, and I will not tolerate it. Anyone caught stealing our graphics and using them as their own without our permission will be reported without hesitation on the incriminating website.

Thank you.

Looks great to me. I especially like that you can have a featured video play automatically when your channel page loads. Hope they keep this for a while.

Hazardous Weather / Significant Santa Ana Event
« on: December 01, 2011, 07:25:51 PM »
Rather significant wind event is unfolding in the Southwest as some of the strongest Santa Ana winds in 5-10 years slam the Four Corners region and California. From Greg Forbes on Facebook:

Quote
Strongest winds gusts that I've seen have been 150 mph on a mountain top in CA, 123 mph on a mountain top in CO, 102 mph in UT, 94 mph in NV, 64 mph in NM

64 mph in NM has since been corrected to 88 mph.

Thanks for the summary, Patrick! Very interesting season to track indeed, and we are lucky that we didn't suffer any significant blows. I am glad that anyone on the forums here affected by Irene made it through without any major problems, especially for those of you in North Carolina and the New England area.

Personally, I think Cantore beat Bettes, although it was a close call.

Yeah, it's been quite chilly (by our standards) in central Florida today.  And yet some people down here seem unable to modify their wardrobe: plenty of people still outside in T-shirts and shorts!!

I remember seeing on the local news during the snowstorm we had here in January, there was a guy who got stuck on the interstate and was pushing his car while only wearing a t-shirt and jeans. Mind you it was in the 20s and snowing heavily.

North Dakota residents are either amazingly tolerant of cold weather, or they're just plain stupid. On a day when the temperature was around 9, I saw four people wearing a t-shirt, athletic shorts, and dare I say it: flip-flops.
