I am at a loss for words. The effect radiational cooling can have on a place like North Dakota...

Current temperature is -21°. Clear skies. No wind. We broke yet another low temperature record, and I'm pretty sure this is the coldest temperature recorded for the entire winter. This is crazy, seeing how the season ends in 3 days.

Well, now I'm angry at spring. :club:

Last night, Grand Forks reported a low temperature of -14. Not only was this a record low for the date, but it was a full 13 degrees off from the forecast low of -1. Needless to say, someone overlooked something. I'm not going to go off on it anymore, because even I don't know what happened, but seriously. -10s in the second half of March?

Edit: Radiational cooling sucks.

Anyone notice the little info box sandwiched between the outlook and the discussion? SPC has these for all the outlooks now - should be interesting to see how this works. Looks excellent for media/emergency management.

I would normally complain about losing an hour of sleep, but seeing I'm on spring break and I can sleep as long as I want to, that really doesn't matter anymore.

26° Light Snow.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for our area. 4 inches was reported at noon today and roughly another 3 inches or so has fallen since then. Expecting around 8-10 inches total with this system, which would put us above average for annual snowfall.

26° Mostly Cloudy/Breezy.

We've been flirting with the freezing mark all week. Hopefully we should be able to get above there in a week or two.

EDIT: When I sent a letter, it inferred that the plan has not been put into effect yet. Is this plan already in effect or not? I hope not.
Yes, it has been deployed as of today.

Someone will contest it. This will cause someone to get outraged enough to find a lawyer. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the Supreme Court hears this one.

I understand their concerns, but this is over-stepping legal bounds.

The National Weather Service website? I think you've got your URLs switched up.  :bleh:

In case anyone is interested in seeing what blowing snow can do to an otherwise clear day in the Red River Valley, I took this video just outside of Grand Forks as we returned to Duluth. Visibility was generally under 3 miles.

Yes, I wish we had more trees.  <_<

Duluth, MN: 20° Snow.

Due to the blizzard in North Dakota, I'm stranded here until the roads reopen. I won't mind missing classes, but I WILL mind returning to a high of -6° tomorrow.
