Wow, it's expected to ride the Yucatan Peninsula and then make a sharp turn to the NE towards Georgia, with winds up to 80 mph!

The National Hurricane Center just gave this disturbance an 80% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 48 hours. Soon, we'll have Tropical Depression 13 on our hands, and then Matthew. Is it 13? I can't remember.

As for hitting SC, that's disturbing. I live near the coast, so...

Hurricane Central / Re: Tropical Storm Lisa
« on: September 23, 2010, 01:06:19 PM »
As of 11:00 AM, Lisa is located a couple hundred miles west of the Cape Verde Islands, tracking east at 2 mph. She's not expected to do much to anything besides dump some rain on the islands. Her maximum forecasted wind speed is 45 mph, and she should become extratropical early Tuesday morning (reiterating what Mike said).

That's a fair answer, although those gay references were purely a joke. I attend an all-guy school, and references like that are made quite often as a joke, even though very little of the student body is gay, if any.

I've heard quite a few songs on the radio. I am most familiar with "Green Onions" by Booker T and the MGs. In fact, that is the primary song that I use on my Intellistar emulator (the other one being Storm Alert). Also, "Jessica" by the Allman Brothers.

Strong thunderstorms moving into the NYC area...warnings have been posted north and west of Manhatten. Expecting a severe thunderstorm warning for the metro area very soon.

Couple of thunderstorms popping up around the Chattanooga area, but none making a direct impact on the city. Sigh...at least the temperature has fallen quite a bit...

Before anyone starts shouting about this title, I want you guys to watch these two videos. The first is basically the second video in a nutshell. It is, by far, the funniest moment of TWC I have ever seen. Kevin and Jim are having way too much fun here. XD

TWC - Jim Cantore's Weatherporn

And, the second video...

TWC- 10/16/09 Weather Center Highlights

If you don't laugh at some point during these videos, something is wrong with you. This is TWC at its funniest. All-men show, what can I say?

I hope it doesn't, either. However, Severe Thunderstorm Watches 861 and 862 have come into effect, all issued south and west of NYC. This implies to me that a weather watch will be needed for NYC within a few hours as the storms progress east.

EDIT: Severe Thunderstorm Watch 863 issued includes the New York City area. Be prepared for severe weather within the next 1-2 hours.

Watch 861 encompasses:
W Maryland Panhandle, SE Ohio, W and Central Pennsylvania, and N Virginia.
Watch 862 includes:
Washington D.C, Maryland, N Virginia, E West Virginia Panhandle, and coastal waters.
Watch 863 includes:
W Connecticut, Delaware, E Maryland, New Jersey, SE New York (includes NYC), E Pennsylvania, and coastal waters.

All members of this forum who live in these areas should take immediate precautions. Severe thunderstorms, with high winds and large hail, even tornadoes, could and are expected to affect your area within the next 1-2 hours. Please take immediate precautions. Anyone living close to these areas should be on alert as well.

OCMs & Personalities / Anyone Shorter Than Jim Cantore?
« on: September 22, 2010, 12:32:46 PM »
Yeah, I asked it. Is there ANYONE in TWC staff that is shorter than Jim Cantore? I was always surprised to find out how short Jim was, especially with his personality! That gung-ho, knows what he's talking about personality is completely condradicted by his stature!
