Oh my God, why is physics so  :censored:  ANNOYING? Universal circular motion can toss itself off a steep cliff, as far as I'm concerned. Sadly, I have to care, because my GPA is relying heavily on this one test grade.  :cry3:

On a completely random note, who here is planning to vote for The Rent Is Too Damn High Party come next Tuesday?

General Weather Chat / Severe Weather Threat: Tuesday, October 26th
« on: October 25, 2010, 06:02:32 PM »
The convective outlook for Tuesday. Much of the U.S. east of the Mississippi is facing some serious weather.

To give a simplified picture, the probability of severe weather impacting the area.

From Wikipedia: A moderate risk day indicates that more widespread and/or more dangerous severe weather is possible (sometimes with major hurricanes), with significant severe weather often more likely. Numerous tornadoes (including some strong tornadoes), more widespread or severe wind damage and very large/destructive hail could occur. Major events, such as large tornado outbreaks, are sometimes also possible on moderate risk days, but with greater uncertainty. Outbreaks on moderate risk days are not uncommon and typically occur several times a year, especially during peak season. A slight risk area typically surrounds a moderate risk area, where the threat is lower.

Check this thread tomorrow for more detailed information. Stay safe, people!

It's coming soon enough. Until then, another screenshot. This time, it's the tropical update.

I figured I might start showing off a custom emulator of mine. The original emulator was made by Andrew Poecker (apoecker), but I've revamped every slide so that the original template is almost unrecognizable. The only thing I've kept, and credit goes to apoecker, is the black portion of the slides with The Weather Channel logos. All graphics and logos are the property of The Weather Channel and The Weather Channel Incorporated.

My main project involves a mass, national Local On The 8's. This is the first slide, showing severe weather alerts.

The emulator was made by Andrew Poecker, but I'm doing a complete and utter overhaul of it, almost to the point where the original template is unrecognizable. I'll be starting a new thread to show a few slides off.

I've downloaded an emulator off the internet and have been working to modify it so that it covers weather throughout the entire United States. This is just an idea, but I've been thinking of posting videos of that emulator every 3 hours with updated information. This way, anyone who doesn't have their city listed can check these videos to see what the weather is. Those whose cities are already covered can continue giving information, obviously. This project just intends to visualize all the data below.

Also included are national thunderstorm forecasts and the tropical update.

Let me know what you think, so I can start right away or abandon the project.

EDIT: Admins, if this needs to be moved, please do so.

Local Forecast / LOT8 Intro Clips/Outro Clips
« on: October 10, 2010, 09:19:58 PM »
Hi, everyone.

I am trying to find some video clips that appear just before the local on the 8s, such as a short promo for Storm Stories, or Hurricane Week, followed by "and now, your local on the 8s." I've been searching for some to use in an Intellistar Emulator, but haven't found any.

While I'm at it, where can I find introduction clips to daily shows (opening for PM Edition, Wake Up With Al, Day Planner, etc.). Thanks to anyone who can help me here.

Hurricane Central / Re: Tropical Storm Otto
« on: October 08, 2010, 10:48:06 AM »
Can you say hurricane? Otto has just now been upgraded to hurricane status, making it the eighth hurricane of the season. Winds are 75 mph, and the system is tearing ENE at 17 mph.

Otto has brought the 2010 Atlantic Hurricane Season into one of the Top 10 busiest in recorded history. 2010 sits at 10th, tied with 2000, 2001, 2004, and 2007.
