41 degrees and cloudy. Much more seasonable temperatures are to set in over the next few days.

Digging the avatar, Patrick. Also keeping an eye on the barometer which as dropped to a low of 29.54 inches. Not as impressive as the October storm, but still very unusual for our area.

Thanks for your replies. I agree with Patrick; I'm trying to add some text of my own so it isn't just maps, but I'm having difficulties setting up the text and the pictures without any major glitch crashing the web page.

Clear overnight with areas of smoke? What, is this from the wildfires in Arkansas and Oklahoma? Either way, that's really odd that a forecast would say "areas of smoke."

In sports news, my school is playing a really good game against our biggest rival. The score's 14-14, at the moment.

In the Pot Belly Stove, I brought up the fact that I finished my school project, building a forecasting website. Well, today, I finally finished it, and I wanted to share it with you all.

Here is the link: http://mccallieforecastingoffice.weebly.com/

Please feel free to let me know if there is anything I can do to improve it (it's kinda basic, just a load of maps and a few bits of text), or compliment it out the wazoo.

I don't know why, but today, I've been feeling mildly depressed. It doesn't make sense, because in retrospect, today was just flat out awesome. Good grades (Patrick, physics went through the roof), beautiful weather, everything worked out in my favor. But I'm still kinda sad. Or maybe I'm bored, and I'll snap out of this by tomorrow.

On the upside, my senior project for school is done. My original plan was to build a weather station, but the school wouldn't help with the funding. So, I had to settle with a forecasting website for the school. I finished it just a half-hour ago.

I'm starting a new thread about it in the General Discussion thread. I hope you'll check the page out and help me improve it.

Looking ahead, models are showing a moderately strong low pressure system taking shape across the Midwest over the next 12 hours. What effects it brings, I don't know. Also, models indicate a stronger system already moving east towards Northern Canada. Minimum pressure estimated is 991 mb.

General Weather Chat / 2010-2011 Winter Storm Season
« on: November 08, 2010, 11:47:11 AM »
As the first winter storm of the year meanders its way into New England, bringing snow flakes for the first time for many cities, I figured I'd open this thread to track future systems as the season crawls by. Any noteworthy storms, snow accumulations, or extraordinary low temperatures are encouraged to be mentioned here.

This first storm has a central pressure of about 996 mb, and is delivering a sloshy mix of precipitation all across New England.

I can't be sure, but I think Christmas Break is just under 3 weeks. 18 days, to be exact.

I find it funny that Altanta is under a freeze warning AND a fire weather warning.

Hurricane Central / Re: Hurricane Tomas

Tomas has lost tropical characteristics, and nothing else is stirring in the Atlantic. It looks like the hurricane season isn't going to spit out another storm for a while.
