General Discussion / Re: Announcing the Weather Network Stream!

I'm planning to modify it quite a bit tomorrow, so if you could send me an e-mail with the stuff sometime in the next two days, that would be appreciated. Send whatever you need. If my e-mail isn't visible, just PM me and I'll give it to you.

Again, thanks for the offer.

To answer Donovan, the outbreak is supposed to occur in the same area, but cover a wider swath of land. The earlier outbreak hit East Arkansas and West Tennessee. This outbreak should impact the same area, except farther into the Tennessee and even affecting parts of Missouri.

I think I'm just going to modify the stream to cover severe weather events, with audio updates when necessary.

I finally got around to terminating my Facebook account today. Just never really used it, and I like communicating to people the old-fashioned way.

Banned for probably not getting to issue very many warnings this weekend at the office (sad day, I was hoping you'd get to because of this weather event).

Oooh...okay. On that note, let's cancel that one show until we can get that copyright information cleared up.

I've just recently got an idea to contribute an idea to these forums, and I'd like to propose it now.

On Livestream, I've just created an account intended to be just like the Weather Channel. EDIT: This stream is currently being used for my school forecasting office, but since it will often be used to observe and forecast on a national scale, this stream could be used by TWCToday members as well.

If you're interested, I'm running a test show tomorrow at 5:15 PM EST. It will cover the predicted severe weather outbreak in Arkansas and Tennessee. I'd like to invite you to check it out, if you can! The video will be archived on the site as well, if you can't make it.

Here's the link:

What do you guys think? Would a live show be a good addition to the site?

Yeah, things aren't looking good. I'm waiting for the second 2-day outlook to be released in ten minutes to see if anythings changed. If the warm front shifts north, by what I understand, the severe risk area increases.

From the Storm Prediction Center:

Quote
THUNDERSTORMS SHOULD INTENSIFY DURING THE DAY FROM N TX INTO ERN OK
BY MID AFTERNOON...WITH A CONTINUED HAIL AND INCREASING SEVERE WIND
THREAT. VEERING LOW LEVEL WINDS MAY TEMPER THE INITIAL THREAT OF
TORNADOES. THE MOST DANGEROUS STORMS ARE EXPECTED DURING THE LATE
AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING...FIRST ACROSS AR THEN SPREADING NEWD
ACROSS NRN MS AND WRN TN. HERE...850 MB FLOW IN EXCESS OF 60 KT IS
EXPECTED IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE DEEPENING LOW...WITH ENHANCED LOW
LEVEL HODOGRAPH CURVATURE ALONG THE RESIDUAL WARM FRONT.
TORNADOES...A FEW POSSIBLY STRONG...AND PARTICULARLY DAMAGING WINDS
WILL BE POSSIBLE MAINLY BETWEEN 00Z-06Z.

A CRITICAL COMPONENT TO THE SEVERE THREAT WILL BE THE PLACEMENT OF
THE WARM FRONT THROUGHOUT THE DAY...AS IT WILL DETERMINE THE TRACK
OF THE SURFACE LOW. CURRENTLY...THE MORE NRN ECMWF SOLUTION IS
PREFERRED...BUT A SWD SHIFT IN FUTURE MODEL GUIDANCE COULD RESULT IN
A COMPRESSION OF THE NRN EDGE OF THE SEVERE PROBABILITIES IN
   SUBSEQUENT OUTLOOKS.
