General Discussion / Re: Post your desktops
« on: July 28, 2010, 01:14:50 PM »
This is another Linux distribution, called Linux Mint. No worries, I didn't uninstall Ubuntu, I just installed Linux Mint on a separate partition.

I think I started watching The Weather Channel in 1999, maybe earlier than that. I definitely remember watching TWC from 99. I don't quite remember the 4000 from my local head-end, but I do remember the XL v. 1 from 1999.

This is Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx running on a separate computer than my Windows 7 desktop and Mac OS X Snow Leopard laptop.

I can't wait to get an HDTV. :censored: My current SDTV seems dated now. :fear:

Hmm. I heard that Detroit is an testing market for this STAR? I should try getting down there if that's the case :bleh:
Hey! Don't let me travel to Detroit from Pittsburgh just to see an IntelliStar 2 in action! :bleh:

Weatherscan Discussion / Re: Weatherscan Topic
« on: July 14, 2010, 02:59:36 PM »
If only they could at LEAST change the playlist on Weatherscan, it isn't that hard to do. Or even just revert back to one of the previous playlists, such as the 2005-2006 one (my favorite).
I'm with ya there.
I concur. Gone are the days of Trammell Starks being played on Weatherscan 24/4. That happened ever since the Weatherscan IntelliStar version 1 first went on the air. May that return someday. :(

Local Forecast / Re: Poll: Flat Basemaps or Rounded Basemaps?
« on: July 10, 2010, 11:36:49 AM »
I chose the Flat Basemaps, because they actually shows the Northwest AND the Southwest, instead of just the West.
I agree, the rounded basemapas show a little too much for one reason.

IDK, but that's still a nice find. Thanks for the upload, Martin.

Local Forecast / Re: Pictures of the WeatherSTAR 3000

I am about to purchase these units pictured here and it looks like a 3000 and another possible older system.
Those are some good quality pictures you got there. I always wondered what the front of one of those two systems would've looked liked.
