TWC and your Cable Company / Re: Cable Boxes

Here is a video of my Cable Advertising System and decommissioned Motorola cable box.
That's a Motorola QIP2500-3, if I'm not mistaken. Verizon FiOS provides that same STB for those with SD displays.

Pittsburgh, PA IntelliStar
I've noticed that the Air Quality Forecast was changed from one reporting location to three on the Pittsburgh FiOS IntelliStar. I find it interesting that TWC has done something like this. Did anyone else receive this update as well?

It's been like this for sometime now.

I must've been out of the loop for a while. That's why I haven't noticed it until now.

For those that didn't hear, Mattoon's WeatherSTAR XL crashed :cry3: late Wednesday night (3/16) and was replaced by a WS 4000 unit Thursday Morning. The Area Director of Mediacom made it sound like the 4000 is temporary until they get a replacement unit to replace the XL. We will see..
How interesting . I guess they decided to go with the "ancient" 4000 unit. I assume they don't have the funds for an IntelliStar.

Programming / Re: Favorite classic slogan

Again, sorry for bumping an old topic, but my favorite slogan is "Live by it". That was during the WeatherSTAR XL v2 era. It was also the first time I used the TWC Desktop app. There's not much to say about the weather, however.

As I was born in '90, I don't really know much of TWC from that year. I first discovered it in '99. Hence why I remember the first version of the XL.

1999-2008 are my favorite years. The LF and the OCMs are the most memorable.

IntelliStar 2 Discussion / Re: IntelliStar 2 Beta Launch

Since the IS2 is most likely going to be regional based, shouldn't Fall River/New Bedford get the Providence Area Star?
Depends on how the headend is wired and how they select which areas get what feeds.
If the Pittsburgh FiOS head-end does get the IStar 2, does that mean they might select the same areas as on the IStar?

Here's a picture of the 8540 and some of the screens. I get the same blue Atlanta Scientific boot screen in the above posts.

(Sorry for bumping an old topic. :( ) I guess not much have changed in terms of the UI on Scientific Atlanta/Cisco Explorer STBs. I remember using an Adelphia/Comcast Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2100 and it had the same UI.

Some time ago, I remember watching an Audi commercial that had "Songbird" by Kenny G. It was on Fox News IIRC. (Wasn't that supposed to be a Super Bowl commercial as well? :hmm:)

I've been hearing a lot of the production music used on TWC also on the foodnetwork channel.
I also remember Quilts by Design (HGTV) playing production music that was used by TWC as well.

1:30 PM Central
Failed to  go to normal programming right after LF and immediately went to Trammell ending at 1:35.

I got a Tweet from TWC (@wxchannel) stating that they had a fire drill.

You bumped a 2 YEAR OLD topic for that?!

If you're going to have steam coming out of your ears, could you please put that steam to good use and melt the snow from my front porch?  Thank you in advance.   :brr: :snow:
:rofl2:

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / Re: Wrong City Name
« on: January 19, 2011, 04:38:33 PM »
Hmm... Clearly, the IntelliStar is displaying a location name of Hancock, yet that location does not exist in that area. Something tells me that it might be a location error and should be corrected soon.
