Good grief, that's not much sleep! :shocked:That's why I'm going to sleep a nice, full 8 hours tonight.
some members were up till 3 in the morning! As was I. I wound up only getting about an hour of sleep last night.
Did they display the 4000 icons?
How did the makeshift graphics look like?
First of all, welcome! Thank you for joining us! We're very happy to have you!
That said, a surge can easily destroy electronic equipment because said equipment cannot supress the surge and is not designed to handle such surges. Depending on how severe the surge was, they may have had to replace or repair many many thousands of dollars in equipment.
Thank you very much for the welcome, I appreciate it!
It was very interesting to see what TWC had in its arsenal in case of any type of malfunction. Seeing Heather Tesch and Kim Perez doing the forecast with the makeshift graphics was interesting and reminded me of the old days. I can't remember the last time they actually showed a satellite image except perhaps on EE w/Jim Cantore or maybe someone else on TWC with experience (not dangly-jewels with the tan from who knows where). I also haven't seen Kim Perez on air before since I don't get up early enough to watch First Outlook. Definitely a TWC outage that won't be forgotten in the near future
I've joined TWC Today after I looked for answers as to what was happening today at TWC. I found this website and decided to contribute my information as to what happened. I live in Salt Lake City and have Crapcast Cable. A few hours ago we had the Intellistar back up but the music wasn't starting or stopping on time. If a power surge happened at the studios, how would that be damaging to the equipment?
PS: I too find it weird that the forum that is dedicated to the past would be more visited than the forum dedicated to the current...
Also, wouldn't it be cool if the old icons made a comeback at least for a while on the V3 Intellistar?
All good, but I was thinking "damn, and right when I find a good forum it may shut down" Like I said earlier, I hope it will all work out. I may have a suggestion, there is another (non TWC) forum that I post in, Its an online police scanner site for a plethora of counties in my state. Each county has its own site and forum. But a part of the forum is shared between all the sites. I do not know what Forum software they are using or if it would be possible to do so here. Food for thought though.
