General Discussion / Re: The Pot Belly Stove

My desktop computer suddenly decided to not come on this morning. And no, it doesn't have anything to do with the storms in our area last night, because I had it unplugged all night. Now, tihs morning, when I press the power button, nothing at all happens. But, what is now happening is the power light in front of the computer is blinking for a split second constantly, and the same thing is happening to the power light in the back of the machine. Anybody know what's wrong, and how to fix it? Thanks in advance. B)

Sounds to me (and I've been fixing computers for a VERY long time) like a power supply problem.

And contrary to your belief, it COULD have something to do with the storms. I assume you use an ethernet cable and card to connect to the internet, and if that's the case lightning could very possibly have traveled through that and fried your PC. Yep, you don't need to have it plugged in to get it fried. I've dealt with many computers that were fried via the modem or ethernet connection.

yes gary i was just wondering how you guys like them thats all, victor post count does not matter to me im just here to help with any kind of videos anybody is looking for also i am not mad  :P

I know post count had nothing to do with it. Ignore Vic. I just was curious as to why you keep asking. I told yuo the other day that I felt sure tht everyone was enjoying your videos. As it says in the rules, you can't continuallly try to get people to post. If they want to tell you they like your videos, they will. Otherwise, just assume they like them unless they say otherwise.  :sunglasses:

Alex, is there any reason you continually ask us how your clips are?

I didn't care about the pre-2000 music except for Ficara, Bobby Love, Andrew Korus, Bryan Savage and Trammell Starks.

EDIT: forgot to add George Hummingbird

I'm guessing you mean George Winston?

alex, what makes you say that?

Ugh. Suddenly Mac's are eerily reminiscent of PC's.
Believe me, you don't experience that kind of trouble in modern Macs. ;)

Oh I believe it. Now that I really think about it, the Mac I have really hasn't given me as much trouble as my PC does. For the most part things have gone smoothly. This is the first real issue that I've had, and it was likely my fault anyway!

Unfortunately, the computer did not come with the 8.6 CD. So I suppose I'm stuck then, because I can no longer get into OS 9 at all, extensions or none.

Try starting the Mac while pressing Command + Option + P + R, and wait until you hear the startup chime for the second time before releasing the keys. That will reset the PRAM in the machine, and that might get it back working.

What I actually did (I hadn't seen your post beforehand) was performed a clean install of OS 9. It seems to have resolved the issue, as it wiped away all the extensions and other settings from 8.6.  :sunglasses:

Is there any way to revert back to OS 8.6? I'm getting a different error message now, something about a bus error. I'm just going to assume that I committed some kind of cardinal sin by not turning Norton off before installing OS 9, as the instructions say to do.

Check it out!:

Yup, got OS 9 on my Mac today. Only problem is I keep getting some kind of error about Norton Antivirus committing an error and to restart and hold shift to turn off extensions. Guess I've gotta find some way to get rid of Norton.

Who is Steve Jobs?

The founder and CEO of Apple. He is to Mac's what bill Gates is to PC's.
