The only problem with an hour earlier would be that that's during When Weather Changed History. In other words, there's no LF at that time.

Well if you say so. Although a satellite clip might make an interesting inclusion.

$400 isn't too bad. Especially when you consider that, depending on how long you rent a DVR you could wind up paying much more than that.
Yeah, it's a HD PVR too, so $400 is kind of a steal :P

Yeah it sure is for an HD PVR.

Do you think it would be alright if I advertised it in my signature both here and at TWCC? Would Matt and Tyler be okay with it?

Its fine with me, and I think it would be fine with them as well.

Even if you do have to get them from your cable or satellite company, you wind up paying less. And there are other options besides getting one from the cable company. You can get a Tivo just about anywhere, and if you DO have satellite many of the Best Buy/Circuit City type stores sell DVR's for satellite TV.
They also sell, what I am going to call a Universal PVR... Its like a VCR but no tape, just a Hard Drive instead. It's basically what I have.

How does the cost of a PVR compare to a DVR or DVD Recorder?
I bought* a Comcast PVR for I think around $400 new. A PVR and a DVR are the same thing. Basic level DVD recorders go for about $150.. My DVR system from 360 Systems cost about 6 grand :P

* You can buy a cable box, or you can rent it.. I think the rental on this unit (Motorola 6412) was under $20 a month, purchase price is around $400.

I'm going to try and get a 4000 viewer from youtube to record during the LAT48's.
That would be super!

To add a little more spice to things, I'm going to talk to Steve and see if he can record a Jr. video for us.  :sunglasses:

Do any of you guys own a DVD recorder? It seems like a lot of money just to record clips
Well, see; normal people use DVD recorders to record movies and TV shows... It doesnt sound like alot of money then, it actually sounds like a solid investment!

However, for just recording TWC clips, yeah, its a load of money and doesnt seem worth it.

Then again, I have a DDR just for TWN :P

Wouldn't it cost less for normal people to use a DVR for that purpose?
DVR's work, but you usualy have to get them from your satellite / cable provider.

I on the other hand have a DDR which records anything you plug in to it.

According to the New York Times, Congress has just passed an economic stimulus package to the tune of $168 billion. The terms of the package are:

-Rebates of $300-$1200 for taxpayers
-Payments of $300 to people who paid no taxes, but earned from Social Security or veterans benefits

1)  They should never have taxed us that amount in the first place
2)  It's not a stimulus.  It's like jamming a piece into a puzzle that doesn't fit.

That's Dan's opinion of the day

Gary's opinion of the day: Just gimme the money baby!  :P
