I thought you can't refuse jury duty.

You can't REFUSE, but you CAN come up with a valid excuse, i.e. no transportation, ill, and so on.
Exactly.

How come you cannot refuse jury duty?

Because the law dictates that jury duty is a civic duty for every person.

Cool! I can go to the office and look at the unit!

What else do Comcast office have?

Actually, no, you couldn't. They don't generally allow the public into the back.

Each office pretty much has everything it takes to run a cable company-clerks to take payments, call centers to field calls, the headend which actually is the heart of the operation, etc.

Yeah, that's true. You may actually end up paying less because if you had a Mac you would have a lesser chance of spending hundreds of dollars getting your computer repaired.

Gosh, I would NEVER spend that much, even on my PC.

Are cable company headends located in "offices"

We a little Comcast office on Ventnor so imagine that's where the intellistar unit/headend is?

Yes indeed. Every Comcast office houses a headend.

What do you mean in six minutes? There is no HD Intellistar yet.

Didn't see an emoticon. Couldn't tell.  ;) :sunglasses:

I'll agree with that. They may cost more, but they seem to be very much worth the extra cost. Not having to fix the thing on a daily basis is PRICELESS.  :P

Go through all the channels and listen closely.

I've been through the channels many times (I'm a known channel flipper!) and some channels are lower than others during normal programming, but all are considerably louder during commercials. I watch a number of channels that are low until the commercials come on and blow my brains out.

Having LOW volume may be abnormal. But HIGH volume is not. However, I don't think you ahve that problem either. You just htink you do since the commercials are loud.

Yes, SOME commercials are. on TWC, ALL of them are. No one else has reported this at all.

I know for a fact that it is not a normal occurrance.

I'm telling you it is completely normal.

How could it be normal?

1. It didn't used to be like this
2. None of ANY of the other channels have this.

So how could it possibly be normal? I've heard my headend is the only one this happens to.

All channels have it. Listen carefully to any channel. At some point a commercial will come on that is far louder than the show you were watching. It's an advertising technique meant to grab the viewer's attention. It's a more widely used technique today than it used to be, so while I think its always been around, it may indeed be more prevalent today then it used to be in the past. But it always has been like that to some extent.

I can assure you that the claim that your headend is th only one this happens to is false. Whoever told you that has swiss cheese for a brain.

I have the volume issue on the regular feed that's been ocurring for a year and a half. It's slowly being fixed. Commercials have considerably louder volume than the actual network audio.

That's normal.

Did you try Googling your problem?
Yes, but it only leads to the same advice that Movie Maker gives (which doesn't help because there's nothing wrong in the video itself).

I kinda figured you probably did try Googling. Thought I'd ask anyway though just to be sure.  :sunglasses:

Wish I could help, but unfortunately this is beyond my knowledge.  :(
