TWC Today News / Re: The Video Matter
« on: June 23, 2008, 03:10:10 PM »
I will post videos from any year since 2000! As long as the most current have something unique..maybe you caught a funny outtake or something. But I'm not going to post bunches of LF videos from this year. That makes no sense. Want to see the current LF? Turn on the TV, you know?

Here's my issue with the YouTube thing..which is easier...searching through thousands of videos to find something that interests you, or coming to one site, one central location, for all TWC videos of this time period?

So nobody has any comment on this matter? Come on people, doesn't anyone want to be involved? Its like you all couldn't care less what happens to the site. But let me tell you all that its closing and THAT will get your attention, right?  :whistling:

TWC Today News / The Video Matter
« on: June 23, 2008, 01:21:10 PM »
I've done some thinking about the matter of people not wanting to see videos that are already on YouTube, and here's my take on the issue, and what I plan to do.

First, it should be no surprise that there's some overlap when it comes to videos posted here and on YT. I have asked repeatedly for contributions, but have never received them. But sure as I'm typing this videos continue to appear on YouTube. As long as people continue putting their videos on YouTube, this will be a problem. You have surely noticed that I have all but quit posting videos, and that's why. You guys record something, tell me I can put it on the site, then put it on YouTube. Well, what's the sense of putting it on the site? The reaction will be the same as it was about the batch of videos I put up yesterday "Ho Hum, boring".

So as a result f the apparent disinterest in putting videos on this site, and instead using YouTube, I am going to consider bringing the video section down entirely. I just don't see the point.

I'm interested in your comments and thoughts. Please share if you wish.

Yeah I think it would make sense for the seat to go to one of them (Gregory or Mitchell). It has always seemed that they would make logical choices as next in line for the Nightly News job. Of course, they probably won't be looking for anyone to fill that job for awhile.

I figured that might have something to do with it, but then again none of DJ''s clips have any comments or ratings. I figured if people saw them there would at least be some of each. Further, he's only had them up for about a month.

I still have more I'd like to post, but I'm not sure I will.  :(

Well, if that's the attitude you all want to have, then blow me.

Just because people aren't singing from the mountain tops how thankful they were for a recent site update doesn't give you the right to get snotty.  <_<

First of all, just about any time you guys do an update your members practically slobber all over themselves.

Second, I agree with Mike. It was (what I thought) was a fantastic update, and getting no reaction at all hurt more than anyhting. Especially because I distinctly remmber everybody mentioning many times over that they'd like to see more clips of past hurricane coverage, especially Isabel.

Damn, he was one of my favorite comedians. I've seen him on TV many times, and read both his books. What a shame.  :(

Umm...did anyone watch any of the new videos? I thought for sure you guys would be interested.

A bit impatient?

Not when people are here going in and out of this thread without saying anything. People clearly knew about the update, and had enough time to check out what was new.

What ever lead me to believe that you guys would be interested in Hurricane coverage clips?

Yes DJ contributed them. I had asked him awhile back if I could put his videos on the site and he agreed.
