General Discussion / Re: The Pot Belly Stove
« on: March 14, 2009, 09:06:39 PM »
Well what if it came from a website. Like my dad goes to his video website that has a lot of viruses and pop-ups and that site might be the cuase. So system restore would put the cpu back to the state that it was before my dad visited the site but the virus would still be there?
the CPU is the processor btw. But yes, technically it's still there.
technically, the term CPU can also be described as the unit that "does the work". Therefore, the computer tower itself can be called a CPU.

As far as viruses go, I've NEVER been able to remove a virus with software. Norton, useless. AVG, useless. Adware/Malware blockers and removers, useless.

The only way I've ever been able to get rid of a virus/adware/malware, was by hard reformat.

CPU stands for Central Processing Unit, so it should only be used to refer to the chip, not the computer itself.

I've had no success with software either EXCEPT the aformentioned Adaware and Spybot. Those two I've used with fantastic results since they came out.

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: Say It Ain't So, Time Warner!
« on: March 14, 2009, 09:03:18 PM »
Stay with Comcast. You will pay less and you will have less worries. Whenever I call Time Warner about my bill or why my channels are mysteriously changing, the people I talk to don't speak good English.

I would have to dispute that statement.

You could try spybot search and destroy. I have used it on others with computer problems like yours.

Listen to this person. Try spybot, and also try Adaware. You do not have viruses. You have spyware and/or adware. Those two programs will clean you right up. And as to why you keep geting these problems, its your fault. Your going to a website that keeps infecting you.

TWC should have asked the opinions of their viewers, since they are a business solely there to provide to the consumers.
The Weather Channel's not obligated to do so. As Martin said it best:
The average person, 99.9999% of TWC viewers could care less about what the icon is. They are there for the weather.
Now I want them to use the old icons as much as you do, Aaron, it's just, unfortunately, not going to happen. You also have to take into consideration, that we are only part of a minority of people. I'm not trying to be mean in any way.

For some reason people seem to have a hard time grasping that fact. I can't tell you how many times I've brought it up.

And that only makes sense. No sense in changing anything until their sure their going to hang onto WxScan. And frankly, that's exactly what I hope they decide. I'd hate to see it go.

Verizon FiOS, and I LOVE it.

And I envy you. I want FiOS so bad, but it STILL isn't available here.  <_<

The name, "Weather Center", really started back in 1997, but I don't blame TWC for continuing this simple name even into today.  It's still effective!

i'm sure kyle is aware of when weather center started...

I also like Weather Center.  Very basic, and general

not to mention a failure after dark.  :P
Yeah, you're probably right that Kyle knew that beforehand.  Sorry, Kyle.  In regards to it failing after dark, I don't have a clue why it keeps happening.

Don't apologize Patrick. Al had no right to cock an attitude like that. Sometimes he really rubs me the wrong way.
