American Media is terrible period.
You think everything in America is terrible, so that is no surprise. :)

No it isn't, you need to get over with the facts.

Please do share these "facts".  :whistling:

British media is much worse. They killed Diana.
I'm with Gary on this one. I think you guys are TOTALLY missing the point. This is a new strain, which there is currently no known vaccine for and people do not know how to react to it. Yeah, I'm sure we are all tired of hearing about the swine flu. I know I am. And yes, there always seems to be some big scare or big story in the news. Remember the whole Casey Anthony story? How about the pepper/tomato scare? Then there was the whole Octo-mom crap which is still going on, and the peanut butter scare, and now this. That's just how society is, and it's never going to change. Sure, having freedom like this has its problems, but every type of society does. There is no such thing as a perfect society. I always like to watch the local news in the morning and evening. This story about the swine flu is annoying, but I deal with A LOT of annoying things and people in life. So, as the user wxmediafan says, I follow it. It interests me too. Every now and then, there is an interesting story in the news.

And come on, really? I do not like to associate with people who say things like that Gil. How do you figure that the British media killed Diana Ross? The news is just part of life. The market will always be there, and there will always be a need for news.

That is just my 2¢

I think Gil's talking about Princess Diana.

Anyway all those sotries you mention are important. I mean, if there's a food that's going to make me sick if I eat it, I'd sure like to know! And I'd sure like to know when its safe to eat it again!

I think you guys miss the point. This is a new strain of flu. One that has never been seen before.

Jesse, why would I be offended about bugs in the new design? Doesn't seem like that would be my problem, since you created the design, and I only followed your directions in installing it.

If your talking about the pages that haven't been put up yet, well those aren't exactly bugs.

Jesse, just watch what your saying/doing. Martin runs this site, not you. I hope he does as I did, and makes the line between you and he real clear. Otherwise I can see you overstepping your boundaries real fast and real frequently.  :fear:

I would not be surprised if they count every case of Influenza as "Swine Flu".

Not all flu is Swine Flu. Stop scaring people.

They won't do that. This flu is far different than the standard flu. That's why its so easy to identify. The standard human flu does not have bird or swine components.

There are now 6 "probable", though not yet confirmed cases here in Maryland. They all have some connection to Mexico. So at least these aren't totally random cases.

The thing is, we don't know just HOW this swine flu spreads, or how easily. We don't know that the woman actually got it from any of those pigs.

Before I step aside, I wanted to to do one last thing. As a gesture of goodwill, I've removed from the ban list Matt and the two TWCC members whom I'd previously banned. Hopefully this will be a step toward peace between the two sites. I also don't want Martin to inherit my troubles. Instead, I want him to have a fresh start.  B)

I just heard that a 2 year old child in Texas has died from Swine flu.  :o

You know, when you think about it the name Swine Flu is a bit misleading, as this flu has swine AND human AND bird components. It is not a true swine flu. Which is the major concern, as they've never seen a flu with components of 3 different flu types.

I think there is some overreaction, but I do think some concern is warranted-but NOT panic. I think the government, thus far, is doing a fine job of handling this situation. They've made it clear thatwe should be concerned, but not panicked. And they've done a fine job in getting the ball rolling on getting medication to the states, and on issuing travel advisories and monitoring passengers arriving to the country.

I just heard on the news a little while ago that there are at least 2 severe cases of swine flu in our country at this point, and they suspected that those cases will likely turn deadly. So we may finally be seeing this flu beginning to really ratchet up.

Martin, if you need any help with anything, don't hesitate to ask. I'm here to help!  B)

As Martin said, though I've stepped down as owner of the site and forum, I do still intend to stick around..at least as much as I can. I want you all to treat Martin with the same respect with which you treated me.  B)

Oh, one final thought. I want to thank all of you for supporting my choice of replacement. It means alot.  B)

I'm honored to announce that everything has now been transferred to the control of Martin. From this point forward, this is now his site, and his forum.

I will continue to visit and post as often as I can. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for making this site the success that its been. I've had a great time building this site to what it is today, and I just know that Martin will do a fine job in continuing to make it the best TWC site here is.  B)

I can think of few other people I'd rather give the reigns to. I got your PM, and we can talk and hopefully get everything taken care of this afternoon/evening.  B)

Just out of curiosity, are most swine flu locations in Texas? :dunno: I ask because I thought I heard someone say that the flu got into the U.S. from people coming from Mexico. So obviously, it would start in Texas.

And today, our school district pratically freaked out, giving us letters, tips, and whatnot about staying healthy.

actually california has the most cases (6), texas follows very closely in second with 3, i believe.

and basically everything gary said.

New York has the most with 25.
