General Discussion / Re: CPU Upgrade... What would you recomend?

Now I feel offended. I work in computers for a living, I am an IS Specalist and the sole IT person for a multi-million dollar manufacturing company and you're telling me I don't have any sense!!!

What I sad was that the CPU socket is out of date, I'm not sure if the Socket A is made anymore I don't think so, unless he can find a faster CPU for that socket then it's not worth all the money upgrading it.

That's not what you said. What you said was that it wasn't worth it for him to upgrade that CPU, and that he'd need a new mobo and new RAM.

I've been building and repairing computers since the days of the 386. If you want to throw qualifications around I can match you every step of the way. I'm surprised that someone in this business has no idea just how easy it is to find any type of CPU you wish to have. There's Ebay, pricewatch.com, and many, many countless other sites that sell socket A CPU's. IMO, if your computer guy is telling you you need a brand new computer (especially if e tells you so without having no idea what you do with your computer), you need a new computer guy.

Rugrats= best show ever created on Nickelodeon.  I loved that show.  Every Saturday my cousins and I would watch like 2 hours of that show.  I have like 5 or 6 Rugrat movies (of actual episodes of the show).  Ah..brings back memories.

I also like Hey Arnold!.
LOL how'd I forget Hey Arnold!  :P

In my opinion, The Amanda Show lost its pizzazz once they started that Moody's Point bullshit.

Yeah I wasn't too big a fan of that skit either.

Auctualy, I agree with Gary. Why o people need a new computer because the operating failed, or it is slow? It still does what it needs to do!

The clockrate is 1400. It is super slow... :hammer:

That's 1.4Ghz, which really isn't TOO bad. Duron processors go up to at least 2Ghz, IIRC, so an upgrade of the CPU should be all you need. What do you do with your computer (other, of course, than browse the internet)?

I think I speak for all of the TWCT admins when I say that we're sorry to see you go (even if it may only be temporary). We'll be looking forward to your return!  B)

They used to air it on the Nicktoons channel, although I don't know if they still do, or if that channel even still exists.

On a different note, Tyler, you just saw one hell of a hockey game. Luckily, it went in the Caps favor this time 'round (at least luckily for me!).

Although I'm not happy with tonight's officiating. If there's one rule in hockey during the playoffs, its that you NEVER EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES blow the whistle with less than five minutes on the clock. And if you DO call a penalty at ANY time in a playoff game, it had better be a good one. The cheap calls don't fly. Let the players decide the game, not a penalty.

IMO It's not worth it to just upgrade the CPU, especially on a computer with that socket. You'd need a new mobo with a newer socket for a new processor, probably you'd need newer RAM, by this point it's just better to buy a new PC.

Soooo wrong. It's amazing how many people think you need a new computer, when you really don't. Is your computer currently serving you well? Maybe just needs an extra bit of speed? Upgrade the CPU, and save some money. There are only a few situations where you really need to always have the latest greatest computer. And I'll tell you now, being an average user is not one of them.

I used to love Nick, in the 90s I don't think they had a bad show. Classic All-That was amazing, Vital Information for Your Everyday Life, Everyday French with Pierre Escargot, and Cooking with Randy and Mandy.

IMO, The best skit on All-That: Ashley. That's Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!  :bleh:

Amanda Bynes= CUTE  :P

My favorite skit was Vital Information, although Everyday French was funny as hell too.

And since we're talking about classic Nick shows, anyone remember Legends of the Hidden Temple? Doug? Rugrats? Ahh Real Monsters? Rocko's Modern Life? Good stuff, good stuff.  B)

What's the speed of the CPU?

Hello everyone,

I am in need up a CPU upgrade... badly. I am running on a old AMD Duron. Information is listed below. The socket of this CPU is a Socket 462 (Socket A).

Applebred (Model 8, 130 nm)
L1-Cache: 64 + 64 KiB (Data + Instructions)
L2-Cache: 64 KiB, fullspeed
MMX, Extended MMX, 3DNow!, Extended 3DNow!, SSE
Socket A (EV6)
Front side bus: 133 MHz (266 MT/s)
VCore: 1.50 V
First release: August 21, 2003
Clockrate: 1400, 1600, 1800 MHz

Any upgrade suggestions (And yes, I do know that upgrading on this socket is difficult, as there arn't many CPUs on the market designed for this specific Socket 462).

CPU's don't have multiple speeds Gil. I want him to tell me what the speed of the CPU is.

I'd love to see an NHL playoff game in person.  I imagine that watching it on TV doesn't give it any justice just like any other sport.

I think your definitely right.

VV, the theme song to that show has never changed. Its the same to this day. Nick News periodically comes on on Sunday night. The next time it comes on, listen in.

Isnt it in a higher pitch than the one used in the 90s?

I don't think so....

TWC Today News / Re: Plagairism Enforcement

This partnership is hereby reinstated. I know I said that I was not going to have anything to do with TWCC, but Matt and I have put our differences behind us and are starting anew, as you all have surely heard. We don't have much of a plagarism issue these days it seems, but I still think its important for TWCC and TWCT to remain partners in keeping plagairism at bay.  B)
Sounds good to me
Sorry about doing this without your knowledge Martin. But again, it was one of those things I did, and felt it was my responsibility to undo it.  B)
Gary its not a problem at all.  B) If you do something I know you have a good reason to. I'll have to slap you if you apologize again.  :bleh:

LOL, I'll try not to.  :P

Serously though, I just don't want to seem like I'm disrespecting you, that's all.  B)
