General Discussion / Re: The Front Porch

Well, its day 3 of being sick. Even though I've felt downright miserable from time to time today (my fever hit 102.4 at one point today), I think overall today has been a bit better than the last two. It seemed like anytime my symptoms flared up and I took an aspirin the aspirin seemed to work quicker, and it took longer for the symptoms to return. But when they did return they did it with a vengeance. I've been spending most of this evening/night sweating terribly (to the point where I'm soaking my clothes and the sofa). I'm hoping that's a sign that this bug is starting to wind down a bit.  B)

Sooo...its day 2 of feeling like shit for me. My symptoms have not gotten much better yet. Only when I take some aspirin do I get some relief. And as of this morning I can add sore throat to my list of symptoms. Thankfully my stomach has bee fine, so I've been able to eat some things without any fear of getting sick. But my appetite is only a fraction of what it normally is. I don't think I've been this sick since grade school!  :P :D

Oh, and one last thing. I upgraded to Windows Vista today! So far so good. I like what I see. I'm hopeful that no problems will crop up.
So long as you upgraded to the latest upgrade of Vista, you should be fine.
I know that when I bought my desktop new in 2007 that there were oodles and oodles of problems with it, but that was 7 months after Vista rolled out.

Hence why I waited awhile (and always do when a new OS comes out).
What fun is that? I like playing around with new stuff until i have wiped my HDD 3 time and reinstalled just as many times! :P lol

Been there and done that too many times. I've had that mindframe since Windows first came out. Thought it was time to NOT jump right into every new OS.  :bleh:

So...anyone here had Swine Flu? I'm sick today, and I think I have some kind of flu. Whether its Swine or not I don't know. I've got aches from head to toe, a slightly elevated temperature (99.5 at last look), a headache, and a cough. It's not as bad as the flu's I've had in the past, but then again they say the Swine flu is pretty mild right now. Frankly I'd not mind having it right now. They say it could get worse when winter comes.  :fear:

LOL been there done that Vic. My friends and I used to play ball all the time. Hit cars, houses, people, you name it. We even sent a few balls into the river!  :P

An update on yesterdays stormy weather. The National Weather Service has now declared that a seocnd tornado did in fact touch down in Harford County. Yesterday they had classified the damage there as simply wind damage. The tornado was an EF0. As I said yesterday, the one we had here in my town was an EF1. One of the local mets was explaining tonight how the tornado formed. we're on the waterforn here, and the sea breeze aused the temperature to drop 10 degrees. This caused the winds to blow in a counterclockwise direction, thus spawning the funnel. Ithink there was a teensy bit more detail to it than that, but still it was very interesting.

An update on this afternoon's severe weather-a tornado did touch down. It tore through a neighborhood about 5 minutes up the street from my apartment. The same storm then produced another tornado about 20 minutes to my east, right where my aunt lives. Judging by the damage I'd say both were weak, probably EF1 at best. This year has been a record breaking year for tornados here. As long as I've lived I don't remember ever having more than a single tornado in a year. We've had two in just the past couple of weeks. They haven't been strong ones (they never are here), but they've been plentiful so far. And today marks the first time this season that the EAS was activated. During last week's tornado there was no EAS activation, or even a Tornado Warning.
Wow, your area has been active! :o  After seeing your post, I checked the SPC reports again and now see one tornado report near Essex, MD that was rated with EF1 damage.  I'm glad to hear you're fine, and I hope your aunt is okay.

Yeah as far as I know she's fine too. Wow, EF1. I think that goes down as the strongest tornado we've ever had here. I think the few others we've had over the years were all EF0.  :o

I was just checking the SPC reports myself and I see that the activity in Harford County (where my aunt lives) is classified under wind damage. Apparently they don't think that was caused by a tornado.

I'm not sure if the videos aren't on the site anymore, but the following LAT48s #2 videos are missing:

Derek, Alain, and Matt (ErnestoAlert)
They are missing on the site as well. Unless they have the files and give them to me, I will remove the names soon

Maybe someone else has the files?

I feel like this warning has been repeated too many times. I know I made the same warning at least a couple of times. Please folks, leave non-TWCT business off of TWCT. If it doesn't happen here there's nothing we can do to help.

The sotrm seems to be passing over the bay now. No reports of any official tornado sighting yet, but NWS doppler radar indicated one just up the road from me, as well as one in Harford County.

Wow, the EAS has been activated. Doppler radar indicates a Tornado about 20 miles to my north. The alarms at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Harford County are apparently sounding. Scary stuff.  :fear:

EDIT: Now a Tornado Warning for Baltimore County. A tornado has been indicated jsut up the road from me!!  :fear:

I talked to Dan about it when he took the site down, and he insinuated that he did not want to give me his stuff. He did not say it directly, but he indicated that he'd rather give it to Matt.  B)
