I assure you Gil that your cable company does use fiber optics. Comcast uses it in all of their service areas nationwide.

No, as far as wiring goes with cable, its standard coaxial. I'm kinda confused as to what
your reffering to.

The only thing that is standard coaxial between the cable company and your house is the cable in your home. All of the wiring outside of your home is fiber optics.

No, Fiber optics is just being developed. THey are currently "Beta testing" it in certain locations.

See Verizon FiOS.

Fiber optics is not new, I'm telling you. It may, however, be a new concept for Verizon (I know for a fact that it is). But its been a standard in the cable industry for, as I said, the last 5-8 years.

You can listen anytime you want. But don't post about it to compete with me.

If you want to get smart with me about it I'll ban you right now. Its not going to take much Gil. You have no idea how frustrated I am with you. IMO, your inability to follow the rules is caused by nothing but ignorance.

No no no. Fiber Optics is completely different. It makes cable look like DSL.

I don't think so.I distinctly remember Comcast making a big stink about 5-8 years ago about the fact that they were upgrading their system to fiber optics.

What I'm talking about is the fact that you seem to be competing with me for highest post count. And the fact that you didn't touch this thread till I did seems to prove that.

So far Cable is best, but soon it will be Fiber Optics.

How are the two different? Cable is delivered via fiber optics, isn't it?

Stephen, DO NOT replace the filter. You do not use a filter on the modem. I assume that you have a splitter on your phone jack so that you can hook up both the telephone and the modem. Put a filter on the telephone line, but do not put one on the modem line. I can't believe that your ISP wouldn't tell you that. The filter is interfering with the modem.
Yeah, they told us to take it out. I had no idea that you were not supposed to use it on the modem, but I'll be sure to let my parents know. ;)
Who installed it???

Sounds like DSL is a piece of :censored:
Its not. Not at all.

Yeah never use a filter on your modem line Stephen.  8)

I don't see what there is to not understand. cable modems are really simple compared to DSL modems. You simply plug the cable line in and go. You don't have to plug a phone line in, you don't have to use a filter, none of that. When it comes to ease of use, cable internet is definitley tops.
