TWC Today News / Plagairism Enforcement
« on: February 07, 2008, 04:18:33 PM »
I'm sure we all here know what plagiarism is. And if you've forgotten, let me refresh your memory:

Quote from: Plagiarism Definition
The practice of claiming or implying original authorship of (or incorporating material from) someone else's written or creative work, in whole or in part, into one's own without adequate acknowledgment, or without the original author's consent.

Let me make it perfectly clear, plagiarism will NOT be tolerated on these forums.

This rule applies to, but is not limited to: electronic artwork, drawings, music, videos, etc.

-If someone purposely states that you "may use their work freely, but not redistribute it," that means you can use it in some form of your own artwork (with proper credits), but you can't go around emailing the original form to people.

-If you use someone else's creative work posted here, in any way, shape, or form, without that persons knowledge and permission, you will suffer some type of consequence, including banishment from our forums. Stealing others' work is both morally and ethically wrong.

-Additionally, this rule extends out of this site. For example, if someone posts your work on Youtube, that counts as well. However, we can only reprimand that person if he or she is an active member here, as we have no immediate control and/or authority outside this website.

If you feel you are a victim of plagiarism, or see someone else's work being misused, please contact either myself, Stephen, or Kyle ASAP.

Thanks for your total cooperation regarding this matter,

TWC Today Administration

TWC Today News / Forum Changes
« on: February 06, 2008, 11:54:13 PM »
If you haven't noticed already, some changes have taken place this evening. In an effort to end the feud between TWCT and TWCC, Matt and I have agreed to a compromise. On his end, he has combined all the 200-current boards into one, and in the board description refers his members to TWCT for more in depth current TWC discussion. On my end, I have created a Classic TWC board, and as Matt did, I have referred people to TWCC for more in depth classic TWC discussion.

We are both extremely happy with this compromise, and hope that all of our members will be too.  :sunglasses:

EDIT: Just so we're clear, no one was forced or obligated to make this compromise. Matt came up with this completely on his own, with no assistance from me whatsoever. The best part is that this agreement did not require either of us to compromise anything. Everything that has been on both forums will continue to be there. We both disliked feuding, and wanted to bring it to an end.

Everything Else TWC / What got you hooked on TWC?
« on: February 06, 2008, 10:02:22 PM »
What was it that got you into watching TWC? The music? Or maybe you have a passion for weather? Something else?

For me, it was a combination of the music (Trammell forever!!  :P ), and my love of weather. I've been fascinated by the weather since I was a little kid (my parents used to call me their little weatherboy  ), thunderstorms and hurricanes in particular.

This thread is for posting anything related to the environment, climate change, etc. Ideas for "going green", helping the environment, etc. may be posted here, as can news or anything else related to the topics of this thread. And don't be afraid to be creative! And of course, no idea is too dumb!  :sunglasses:

Everything Else TWC / Weather Channel, Others Sue Fcc Over Dtv Rule
« on: February 06, 2008, 12:11:14 AM »
According to an article in the Virginian-Pilot The Weather Channel and several other cable networks are suing the FCC over a requirement to carry both a digital and analog signal for three years after the 2009 analog cutoff. They claim it might cause some carriers to drop their programming. Here is the article:

According to Jeanne's site, her new CD was supposed to be released in January. Did that actually occur? If so, I've heard nothing about it.

Found a page that seems to have many unavailable Steve Glotzer songs available for download. Better yet, they only cost 89 cents apiece. Here is the site:

Can anyone identify any of those songs?

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / How did you find TWC Today?
« on: February 01, 2008, 11:06:17 PM »
Alright, I had a thread like this before, but apparently it, like so many others, got axed when all was lost a few months back. I just want to get an idea of how everyone found this site. This will help me to determine how to best advertise it. If you found us at TWCC as many of you did, simply select that option-you needn't explain. For that matter, you needn't explain at all unless you've selected an option that requires an explanation.

Thanks for participating!  :sunglasses:

OCMs & Personalities / Paul Goodloe
« on: February 01, 2008, 10:52:46 PM »
Is it me or or does Paul consistently dress very sloppily? I've caught him on EE several times over the past few weeks and each time I noticed two things: first, he doesn't wear a tie. Second, he doesn't even bother to button his jacket while he's on camera. It just seems to make him look a bit unkempt, especially when you consider that most OCM's usually go to great lengths to make themselves look as presentable as possible. In fact, I don't know of any other male OCM at TWC who does these tings, except maybe Mike Bettes (I'm picturing him in my head and it seems he doesn't wear a tie either...).

Hopefully we won't have to do it a third. Thanks to everyone for their active participation, and here's to another 20,000!  :sunglasses:
