Speaking of computers, Yesterday I went down south to pick up my old iMac (Yes, that one iMac you see here) with no keyboard or mouse. The OS is 9.2. So I will be needing a HUGE upgrade. The monitor/CPU seems to be working like new still. I plan to buy a new mouse and keyboard hopefully this weekend. And if all is possible, buy a new OS upgrade. But I won't do that until I find someone who can give me advice about using a mac.

Well if you need any help with that Mac I'd be glad to assist you... I like those old iMacs, those are my favorites!

I'll never get a flu shot. My dad said he won't either because when he was in the Marines and they made him have a flu shot and that was the only time he ever got the flu... Isn't it made so you DON'T get the flu not GIVE you the flu?

I don't worry about getting sick, I wash my hands when I go to the bathroom and wipe down my office desks and keyboard/mouse with Lysol wipes every week (mostly because I like it clean)

9/11 is one of those days that you will always remember exactly where you were when you heard the news. I remember I was in my 6th grade homeroom near the back corner. Of course at the time I really didn't understand the magnitude of what was going on.

I found this thing on the Internet Archive that has ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, and BBC's coverage of 9/11 events from 8:30AM on the 11th till 8:30PM on the 13th. Since quite a few of us didn't see what happened or were too young to understand it's interesting to see the events as they unfolded, however quite eery.

I absolutely LOVE my slingbox. The only tricky part about the setup was setting up the slingbox with a static IP on my router and port forwarding the stream ports to its IP. At first I had it setup only with port forward but then it would change IPs on me and stop working but now that it has a static IP it's great! Now if the iPhone app would allow me to use it on 3G, darn you AT&T!!!
Jailbreak would fix that :P

Yea, I looked into the Jailbreak that would trick apps into thinking they are on WiFi but I don't know if they work on the 3GS yet plus I just updated to the new 3.1 software yesterday.

Humm... I've never had to do any summer work either. The whole point of summer is to be away from school!

My laptop just took a crap, one day after it goes out of warranty, now I need to get a new one.
* hen7713 rolls his eyes

If it's really only one day out of warranty I'd try to get it fixed anyway, sometimes the nicer companies will take care of you. Unless you are talking about it being one day out of an extended warranty through a third party (e.g. Geek Squad Black Tie Protection) but if it's through the manufacturer then I bet you have a good chance of getting it fixed.

I just read a story about LG replacing a five year old Plasma TV and it was way out of warranty, you can check it out here, http://consumerist.com/5352297/lg-electronics-offers-customer-amazing-service-on-broken-plasma-tv

Let me rant about HP for a minute...

I have always had a STRONG hate for HP. Every person I knew throughout my life that had an HP had tons of problems with it from my Omnibook 6000 literally falling apart right in-front of me. My friends HP's motherboard and power supply dying and so on...

As of right now, being the sole IT person for a medium size company I have experienced first hand the support given by a multitude of computer companies. We have mostly Dells but we have three identical HP/Compaq NX9420 business grade notebooks that were bought by our former IT Manager. Well about a year ago we installed a $30,000 Cisco wireless network throughout our two buildings (yea 30 grand!) Well since day one none of the HPs have been able to connect to it however we have three Dell Latitudes, my MacBook Pro, my iPhone, two Acer notebooks, one Dell Optiplex, and nine Symbol MC9090 PocketPC handhelds that all can connect to our wireless without issue. So clearly something is wrong with the HPs, right? So I took one of them, upgraded the drivers, upgraded the BIOS, re-installed Windows, then contacted HP and changed the wireless card, then sent it in for the motherboard to be replaced and it STILL will NOT connect! I have called support numerous times and I have to explain the whole situation to them again (I guess they are just too lazy to read the case notes) and every time I end up with the same result "Someone from executive support will call you within 24 hours" well guess what, they don't! So I went to the Consumerist, got the Executive Customer Service number and got a hold of someone there who put me in contact with an Executive Technician, I explained my situation to him, he said that he would discuss it with the Engineers and call me back in a half an hour, that was 19 hours ago!  :wall:

I am at my wits end with HP, I have ALWAYS told people to steer clear of HPs and I personally have never bought an HP after my Omnibook and NEVER WILL.  :censored:  :censored:

Here's my Universities' speed test...

Not as fast as Ana's or, the Apple Store  :thrilled: Apparently each Apple Store has a DS3 line that costs approximately $5,000/month/store. Imagine, 263 stores * 5,000/month = 1.3 million/month just in internet access!!  :faint:

today is day two of college...unfortunately I had to be up at 7 to be at a class that starts at 8, little did I know...the class is a two hour class. LOL, and that class is TV Production -- I LOVE IT.

That sounds like an awesome class, maybe I can find something like that here at UT, if I do I'll take it next semester.

Anyway I had my first day of the semester yesterday. First off I need to go on a rant about parking at UT.

Freshmen get the K parking pass meaning that they can only park on two lots that are on the opposite end of the campus that my classes are on, to be a Sophomore and get the C pass (regular commuter, most lots are C lots) you need 30 credit hours... I have 29 and have already been at UT for a full year! No matter how much I begged and pleaded they wouldn't give me a C pass so I told them to stick it where the sun don't shine and I parked in the C lot anyway. It is just a short walk from there to my classes. Thank goodness I didn't get a ticket and I hope I won't since my classes are so late (I'm there from 5:45 to 8:35 for two classes).

The first class I had was Micro-Computer Applications in Business (essentially computing 101) and it made me want to hang myself right there, the class is literally "this is how Windows works, this is how Office works"  :wall:  :wall:

The second class was Calculus II with Business Application, first off these two huge guys walk in late smelling like cigarette smoke and one sits right in front of me so I can't see the board and the other sits to the right of me so the whole time I couldn't see and couldn't breathe. However when the professor started talking I couldn't remember how to do anything then he did a refresher on derivatives and it's all starting to come back to me so I hope I'll do well in the class.

If that's the case we'd have Comcast here in NW Ohio for the first time, however Buckeye kicks the crap out of Time Warner and definitely Comcast.
