Local Forecast / Re: General LF Discussion
« on: June 20, 2010, 05:30:55 AM »
I've noticed on a couple of my E.L. clips that there is buzzing/popping right as the LF fades in and the narration begins. Is this part of that nationwide issue that has occasionally occurred?
Yes.

I can't change it every last time I go back and forth. I have two separate homes. I don't see why it's such a big deal to just make it so that I can enter in two fields.
Having more fields than there are will clutter the left side of posts more than it already does.

Has anyone else noticed a black/blue/black gradient strip at the top of their TWC live programming picture (including in studio shots)? It only appears when there's going to be an LDL present, and doesn't exist during live LOT8s openers.... I've noticed it for a week or so now.

I don't want to sound technologically uneducated, but why does everything in HD have to be 16:9? I don't understand why you can't have 4:3 HD programming.
With the LDA on, it essentially IS 4:3 HD programming, in a sense anyway.

The Tor:con index is basically a glorified version of the tornado forecasting that the SPC comes out with each day. Just another marketing technique NBC has up their sleeves. A 10 on the scale supposedly means you are 100% guaranteed of having a tornado occur within a 50 mile radius of your location.
Just because NBC owns the station doesn't mean they come up with *EVERYTHING* on the network... Maybe TWC/Dr. Forbes actually DID come up with this on their/his own without NBC's input. It debuted during VORTEX 2 last year.

I haven't had much problems with my HP, but I regret getting a Compaq. They're terribly slow and don't last that long. The first Compaq I had, I had to replace the optical drive. Then the motherboard went on the fritz. On this one, the PS/2 mouse port and the rear audio out port are bad. Of course, I didn't know as much about computers when I bought this back in 2005. I'm going for a Dell next time :)
Remember this: Compaq and HP are owned by the same company. Compaq computers/notebooks are low end, HPs are higher end.

Everything Else TWC / Re: Has TWC lost its way?

I no longer am a fan of the weather channel. Its just that simple. I am sick and tired of seeing long form programming on during the weekends, and now during the most important times of prime time. If people tune into the Weather channel, its not to watch long form, the average viewer wants to see the forecast..
Agreed. 4 straight hours of longform: waste of time
Whose time is it wasting, Mr. Saenz?

The Weather Channel gets a mid 6-7 in my books. I'm ok with this, no network is perfect in my eyes.

PS: I lol @ the people giving 1s and 2s, but I respect your opinions.

They're probably hiring more OCMs for the anticipation of a more active hurricane season.

There's some pictures on there. I wonder where that set is. Possibly the former Weekend View studio?

I thought it was shot in NY  Guess I was wrong

I never heard about that. I guess it might be in NY.

I'll have to double check
That definitely looks like the former WV/A&B studio...

I don't think anyone minds talking about the issues but are 4 threads about how TWC is bad necessary?
Evidently it is necessary - or there wouldn't be 4 threads.  I have been a fan of TWC since the early days of cable. In all honesty, I joined this forum hoping to give some feedback to someone who cares at TWC. I have e-mailed them and filled out their on-line feed back form with out getting any replies back from them. (I know that they will not answer everyone) Does anyone from TWC frequent this forum? I am kine of like a sports fan whose team is on a loosing streak. I can't stand to watch them play, but they are the only team in town. TWC is the only weather channel on Dish and they are definately on a loosing streak.  <_<

There seems to be a wave of sentiment that has formed that TWC programming is not what it's fan base wants and people who do not watch TWC could care less. We could just mention once that TWC needs re-grouping but that will probably not change things. If they hear it again and again, they will probably end up doing something about it.

If you don't like the posts, don't read it  ;)  :)
nice try. it's best to listen to the admin, lol. At this point, you're all beating a dead horse. Nothing is going to change, so it's best to just let it go, or don't watch the channel. I made a rant not too long ago giving some tips on making your voice heard... Can't link to it as I am mobile. If you search my posts on my profile, you can read up on it.

PS. don't be trying to steal my quote, lol :club:

So it seems YWT is using different production music in the opener now. I haven't heard the original music (that was composed with this opener) in a few days now.
There are several tracks they use for their music.

TWC Today News / Re: New TWC Today theme!
« on: June 14, 2010, 02:13:52 AM »
PS: Might I suggest making the "no new posts" image a lighter shade of gray? It's a bit confusing, making me think there's new posts when there aren't, as only the bottom part of it changes when there's new posts.

I agree 100%.

Here's a "light" version of it that I just modified:

That version would definitely help.
Done.

The logo on the current "curve" theme is now smaller. Was this intentional? :dunno:
Yes. It makes it much easier to maintain the logo on both themes. It was supposed to be that small to begin with anyway. It also makes it smaller computer resolution friendly also.
