I think this might be the one.  With a few update.  I would need a TV tuner to capture video right?

I am quite impressed with the specs of that tower. Yes, you would need a tv tuner card. You would have to find out what slots are available in the machine to be sure you purchase the right type of card for this machine.

Any comments on these ratings?  Do you think Consumer Reports give unbiased reports?
They don't take advertising money or bribes, this is correct. I do not believe they give unbiased reports, however. I do not have evidence to back up my claim though.

Wow, that is dull! I take it you have Windows 8? What do you think of it? It looks like a radical (and unwelcome) departure from the look most Windows users are used to. I've also heard it's difficult to use.
Once you learn where everything is, it's very simple to use, like it was for Windows 7. I've taken the time to actually explore around the entire operating system, both the metro/modern ui and the classic desktop ui. I know where everything is, and it's as smooth as butter. I like Windows 8. I have 0 complaints at this point. I always recommend a clean installation over an upgrade so that there would be 0 issues. I'm available for questions if anyone would like to upgrade to Windows 8 and would like help with installation or other questions.

This is the true spirit of Christmas... Being thankful for what you already have in your life. Back in October, my mother collapsed on the floor unable to get up. No amount of effort on mine or my dad's part could get my mom up and back in to her room. We called an ambulance, she was taken to the hospital. That night, she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, with damage to her liver and spleen. The damage to her heart is unrepairable. She, unfortunately, is a smoker and has diabetes and neuropathy (damaged/dead nerves) thus is not capable of being a candidate for a new heart if this were to ever come to light. Over the course of the past few months, she has started to lose the ability to walk. She can sort of walk, but only with a walker and one of us (me or my dad) being with her incase she falls. I am truly thankful that I still have time with my mom, as we do not know how much longer we have with her. I, as well as her, are taking things one day at a time and we are working through our own rehabilitation to hopefully regain full control of her walking abilities.

Everything Else TWC / The Weather Channel Windows 8 Metro/Modern UI App...
« on: December 03, 2012, 05:45:02 AM »
I highly dislike the present Windows 8 app that TWC presently has out.... It's horrifically ugly, it's bland, and it's "generic." The weather icons they use aren't even their web or on air ones, they are highly generic and ugly. I took the liberty of taking some screenshots and present the links below......

The first shot is what you see when you search the app in the Windows Store:
https://twctodayforums.com/twcwindows/twc1.jpg

The second shot is what you see in the current conditions page:
https://twctodayforums.com/twcwindows/twc2.jpg

Scrolled to the end of the current conditions page:
https://twctodayforums.com/twcwindows/twc3.jpg

This shot is the day-by-day forecast page:
https://twctodayforums.com/twcwindows/twc4.jpg

This shot is the hour-by-hour forecast page:
https://twctodayforums.com/twcwindows/twc5.jpg

This shot is the radar map page (note you cannot change to a satellite like image, you're stuck with the ugly map):
https://twctodayforums.com/twcwindows/twc6.jpg

The only "saving grace" part of this app, the alerts page:
https://twctodayforums.com/twcwindows/twc7.jpg

If you want my personal opinion, I would "pan" away from this app and use a different weather app instead, until TWC can get their act together.

BTW, if a current site admin is ever too busy to post or take down a logo, I'd be happy to take care of it.
it's a PHP file that has to be edited, located at https://twctodayforums.com/logos/wxctr.php

Is there a particular reason why we still have the Thanksgiving logo up?

Too early for Christmas? :bleh:
^this  .... j/k

I'm having issues getting Filezilla working.... Once I get it working, I can ftp in and swap it out.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: 2012 Layoffs
« on: November 24, 2012, 12:47:05 AM »
Trying to keep track of the OCM changes this month. If I'm correct,
Kelly Cass and Paul Goodloe are OCMs for WCL 5pm-7pm M-F.
Reynolds Wolf is now the regular OCM for First Outlook.
Alex Wallace and Kim Cunningham are now the OCMs for Weather Center Live Sat and Sun at 7pm and 10pm.
Alex and Kim contribute to the some of the weekday WCL shows at 10pm and are OCMs for the live segments at 1am.
Not sure who the regular weekend OCMs are for Weekend Now 11am-2pm and WCL 4pm.
Where did Chris and Crystal get moved to?
top and bottom of the hour segments during the 5-8pm WCL.

The Thanksgiving logo Andy made in 2010 has been put up. If anyone would like to contribute possible entries for a holiday logo for the forums for 2012, let me know if you would like to contribute, I'll designate and create a thread for entries and put up a poll!

During Long-Form at 2am, the "weather.com" underneath TWC logo is no longer appearing.
"weather.com" disappeared several days ago, although the reason behind it is unknown...

Just wondering, has anyone else here had trouble with someone trying to hack their account? I ask because I just got 4 or 5 messages from TWCT/C within the last 10 minutes saying that someone is trying to change my password. Is Felipe still making trouble? Or does our little village have a new idiot these days?  :club:

I checked my Gmail inbox and I got the 5 messages you were talking about. I always wonder, don't the hackers have better things to do than to go and hack other people's accounts?  :club:

You would think that they would have better things to do, wouldn't you? But some people (who are former members of this forum) appear to not have anything better to do.  :pinch:

Yep, I would think that   ;)
I can confirm that I do not see any indications of a possible security breach in the forum software itself, so it appears these are isolated incidents.
