So... Lindsay Lohan failed TWO drug tests, one of which found cocaine in her system, thus violating her probation. Bitch may be going back to jail!

It's not a bad start. I dislike the basemap choice.

Wow so Jim is actually going to Bermuda. Surprised TWC would bother

Well a major hurricane is heading their way and I think they have done that before. (having someone report from Bermuda)
Yes its happened before but its never been a priority for TWC. Even more so since this is happening on a weekend
You know better than to think weather happens on the weekend! :P

Wow, it looks terrible.
I agree.  What a waste of space.  I do not like the new format at all.  It would suck to get the 1,000,000 dollar question first, and have it be the hardest question and you have to "jump" it.  I don't like the "jumps" either.  And they want them to jump around and be excited when they a question right?  Shoot, the first guy to win a million didn't even jump and hop around.
That's COMPLETELY *NOT* how the new game works...

Is Julia being pronounced the spanish way (with the J being silent), or the English way?
from what I recall, it's the English way.

IntelliStar 2 Discussion / Re: IntelliStar 2 Beta Launch

cause technology advances practically everyday.

But why should The Weather Channel spend money and resources on developing a new SD Star when standard television has, at least in the opinion of the government, become obsolete?  Even cable/satellite operators aren't going to be required to carry them for much longer (but probably will, at least for the foreseeable future, since HDTV sets are quite expensive).
Standard definition is not obsolete but analog is. The day you see the FCC ban 640x480 broadcasting is when SD will vanish  ;)
720x480... But I don't see that ever happening any time in the near future (10+ years)

It's not showing up for me either. I may take a look at it later to fix.

Thanks, but I was wanting a HQ scanned image.

Are you trying to manufacture and sell pirated CDs?  :)
I may be wrong, but I think he's looking for a high quality scanned image for album art for itunes/ipod...

General Discussion / Re: Emergency Alert System
« on: September 13, 2010, 04:03:40 AM »
I could have sworn an EAS topic already existed, however I cannot find it, so I will reply here....

In my area, on Comcast, the way the EAS comes through differs if you're on a cablebox or direct cable or CableCARD...

If you're on a CableCARD, such as myself, then you will see a scroll. The TiVo throws you back to live tv, if you're watching a recording, and it will throw up a scroll that you are NOT able to exit out of, and no button presses will work. The issue with this is that once the scroll disappears, the CableCARD has to retune to the channel, thus affects some of my recordings if both tuners are in use.... There is no audible tone that comes from Comcast if you are using a CableCARD in my area (with the exception of if a local station chooses to do so, that will come through directly from themselves).

If you are on a cable box in my area, you will hear the EAS tones, and a scroll will also appear at the top of whatever channel you are on. Again, you cannot exit out of the scroll, but you can still use your guide and what not, including changing the channel, and you will still see the scroll going through. Same local station exceptions apply.

If you are on a direct cable feed, you will hear the EAS tones, and you will hear a message saying to tune to channel 2 for emergency information, whether it be a test or an actual warning. Same local station exceptions apply. Channel 2 is our local organization channel for county wide stuff, like events and such. We do have channel 19, but Comcast does not control that channel, thus nothing usually goes through there except local community and school stuff.

From the current projected paths, I am seeing another Danielle or Earl. It's like deja vu.

Its a bit north of where Earl was when it was in this area. Perhaps a Danielle?

All signs are pointing to another "Danielle" situation.

Ordered a new Dell desktop today. This will be the first desktop I have gotten in 8 years that I will use as an actual computer. Ive gotten a couple cheap towers in the past for servers.  I can't believe they now have 6 core CPUs!! 12 threads! I remember when the PentiumII was super awesome.

Studio XPS 9000
1   317-4541   Intel Core i7 980 Extreme (3.33GHz, 12MB Cache)
1   317-0080   12GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz
1   320-1292   ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5
1   341-8519   1TB Serial ATA 2 Hard Drive 7200 RPM
Awesome system!
Needlessly overpowered unless you're a gamer, even then, still needlessly overpowered unless you turn it in to a server.... :P
