Programming and Graphics / Re: Storm Stories Sydicated on ABC
« on: October 02, 2008, 02:29:14 AM »
Apparently it comes on Saturdays in my area -- my listings show:
"Utah Avalanche" 10/4 5:30 am 233 KYWDT/3 KYW
"Utah Avalanche" 10/4 3:30 pm 233 KYWDT/3 KYW
"The Blizzard of 1996" 10/11 5:30am 233 KYWDT/3 KYW
"The Blizzard of 1996" 10/11 2:30pm 233 KYWDT/3 KYW

just an fyi -- KYW is Philadelphia's CBS station (CBS3 -- The Home of Eyewitness News)

Here in marlton, we have Digital preferred package with HBO on one TV, expanded basic on two other TV's, and high-speed internet. In Bensalem, I have expanded basic on all of the TV's, high-speed internet, and digital phone.
Hmm that sounds about right. For premium internet (20mbps/3mbps) and digital cable with several HD DVR boxes and service the bill i up to about 150. With your telephone and extra services I can see you having such a high price
and they are ripping you off at $15 per HD DVR. Direct TV only makes you pay one DVR free and 1 hd fee for as many boxes as you have you only per $5 per box.
I have a TiVo HD, with 2 CableCARDs, which for all who don't know what they do, they're basically PCMCIA sized cards that are pretty much your cable box, each card provides 1 tuner, thus for a total of 2 in a Series3 or a TiVo HD. The first card is free to rent, the 2nd is $1.50 a month to rent. Using CableCARDs gets you a $7.90 credit on your bill per month for not using their equipment, thus essentially they're paying you to use your own. Now, my TiVo service is $12.95 a month, but you get their premium guide, podcasts, etc (visit their site for more info), and I pretty much upped the drive in my tivo to 500GB, thus essentially i can record 64 HD hours or 607 SD hours... Now, if only my Comcast provided TWC HD :doh2: In the long run a TiVo is a better investment for me, may not be for you though.

My bill for the month is the Digital Preferred Plus Promotion for 6 months $ $74.99, 3 other boxes for $14.85/mo total, $1.50 for the Cable Cards, $7.90 credit for using the CableCARDS, $6 for the HD service, $42.95 for the ~10mbps (average) internet. $3 for the cable modem rental, $1.78 for taxes, thus comes to about $151/mo if all goes right. Those totals won't add up to $151 at the moment due to the change of service (threatening to cancel your comcast ftw) but that's what my cable averages out to.

I apologize if this makes no sense whatsoever... it's late for me...

The more and more I watch PM Edition, the more and more I'm beginning to notice the flatness in Samantha Mohr's voice and she makes it really obvious she's reading a teleprompter, especially tonight... All of the other OCM's put some personality into it, Samantha does not  It makes me want to turn the channel, but I know A&B is on in less than an hour so I'll cope...

My cable modem is dying. Internet has been going out frequently over the past week. :censored:
Same here. I sometimes have to reset mine and unplug/replug it countless times to get it to work.
I might be able to help you diagnose this problem... contact me in private or on AIM and I can help you out with this... depending on the problem you may have to call comcast to come out...

Weatherscan Discussion / Re: Weatherscan Topic
« on: September 30, 2008, 01:15:52 AM »
Wow, I'm surprised you even knew that... I did, as I live in the same area using the same IntelliStar, heh, but still... I would like to see the return of the original Weatherscan :(
Yep, I remember that day very well.  It was the same day my XL's transparent LDL became black. This update occured when I lived in PA and before I started going to NJ for school, so I don't remember when the Cherry Hill Weatherscan was upgraded (I've seen both the Weatherscan and domestic XL from that area though). I'm guessing it took place the same day in all headends around here. I was a little disappointed that the Weatherscan XL was gone, but I loved the new production music and eventually got used to the new look and loved it. The new music had me record many clips of Weatherscan during this era and now I'm glad I have footage of this era to share with everyone on YouTube.
It went the same day yours did... I remember because I flipped through the channel list and say the change... I did a full wtf the day the LDL bar changed because I wasn't happy at first but after a few months, I got used to it... my Local on the 8s didn't get changed to the IntelliStar until March 2004 though... I wasn't happy that day either...

I like it. :)
does anyone have a video?
pick a weekend outlook 4:30am broadcast. That's pretty much what it is right now.

Instead, I will stay w/ DirecTV until the prices are too high
If DirecTV is too expensive for you, then Comcast isn't for you either. We're paying as high as $250 a month for digital cable and high speed internet service.
really? Mine's like only $150 a month... wtf extra service are you paying for?

Weatherscan Discussion / Re: Weatherscan Topic

Well, last Saturday marked five years since Weatherscan IntelliStar debuted in my area (9/27/03), and three years since a major update had been made (9/27/05). Right now it's in dire need of changes, but now that it is in the hands of NBC I don't see that happening.

If you're still getting it, its possible that either 21873 merged with the Woodbury Star (I believe that is #21862) and they just didn't modify that IntelliStar's configuration yet, or your Star failed and they are using 21862 as a backup feed while a new IntelliStar is being shipped to your headend.
it is 21862... it's been like this for over a week now...
I'm guessing I can use the Woodbury one for now and not complain... it is a mere 11 miles up the street from me, yet Camden was only 4 miles from me :/ Only problem is that it says TWC is on Channel 9 when it is not which is why I don't want them to use this IntelliStar...
