Programming and Graphics / Re: What's your favorite show or segment?
« on: October 10, 2008, 12:43:03 AM »
I miss Weather Center AM/PM (started around the time I started to get interested in TWC), the early days of Your Weather Today with Heather Tesch, Marshall Seese, and Dennis Smith (I like Nicole Mitchell though, I have nothing against her), and the early days of Evening Edition (pre September 29, 2003)...

I love how the Evening Edition logo is on its side on that monitor...

General Discussion / Re: Do I have a good singing voice?
« on: October 09, 2008, 01:51:24 AM »
That was good @ Squizz...

Back in the day when I was in school, I was in the school choir from 4th-12th grades. God, I'm old (I'm 19)... I started at an Alto, until my voice changed mid 8th grade then I became a Baritone-Tenor. I sang strong and was actually one of the top singers in my choir classes. I am not the best, but I can sing well if I had to.

General Discussion / Re: NBC WEATHERPLUS SHUTTING DOWN
« on: October 09, 2008, 01:35:04 AM »
I would think it would go after the channel goes. In my area it's 10-2 on NBC10 (WCAU)... wonder what they'll do with the channel?

I'm going to stop posting news on this forum. And you jackasses have yourselves to thank. I'm tired of everything I do being carbon copied onto TWCC. And its the same people who do it over and over again.
whoa, relax there a bit... Most of us did nothing wrong! Don't punish us :( I don't even know what happened...

Not cool at all. Wikipedia sucks.
Hey! Some of us here have been trying to maintain it properly for a while now to keep it strong and up to date!  <_<

Here's some noticeble cable channels that I think is going downhill:

12. The Weather Channel. Reason why: They started to create full-length programs, became too political ever since the 2005 Hurricane season, the guy started talking over the local forecasts, It Could Happen Tomorrow, it became "the hurricane authority," everything is life or death, they became alarmists, when they changed the typeface on the local forecast, IntelliSTAR, they axed the WeatherSTAR 3000, they stopped doing "Weather and Your Home," when Hillary Andrews left, the 2005 relaunch, when Jim Cantore started shaving his scalp, the death of John Hope, Forecast Earth, and when they started airing in HD.

So there you have it. I'm so sorry you guys. I still love TWC and I still like to watch it. Its just that they made it so harsh these days. It not like how it was back in the '80s, '90s, and all the way into the early 2000s (before the 2005 relaunch). Plus I miss the WeatherSTAR 3000.
The Weather Star III was put out of commission by the FCC December 31, 2005 because it did not have the capacity to sound an aural tone each time a severe weather alert displayed on screen. They could have fixed it, but it would have been costly millions to fix each one. This one wasn't TWC's fault.

They show credits, yeah, but they don't show "Copyright [year here] The Weather Channel" though

There's no mention of The Weather Channel anywhere in there, no logo at the end, nothing.

Curious question... any reason why the XL didn't get the new weather icons? Not that I like the new icons, because I still don't after almost 2 years...

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: TWC Alarm on Star Jr.

If it's still going on once you wake up in the morning, try to get us a STAR ID (shown ~:57 of the hour right before the :58 LF) and/or the general area of where you are so we can get it reported to the STAR team.

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: Comcast Sucks.
« on: October 02, 2008, 08:49:40 PM »
Well I'm actually going to applaud Comcast today. They came out very quickly and gave us a speedy new modem. It's a Scientific Atlanta, which is kind of weird.

My dad also asked if they had updated the HD cable box since we got ours in 2006, and the guy said yes, and offered to upgrade ours for no charge.

Happy. :twothumbs:
Wow, wish my Cherry Hill, NJ headend was like that! The people there are  :censored: 's and give no useful support when my modem (an RCA) is malfunctioning. It has to be my modem since no one else seems to have problems connecting.
They were marvelous to detect my problem and fix everything linked to it -- the wire that splits into my house, the modem itself, etc... I have a feeling that either your modem is failing, your signal levels aren't where they should be, your SNR levels aren't where they should be, or any of all combinations of the 3 scenarios. In my case the modem and SNR (signal to noise ratio) were the problem and all is fixed, all be it I'm a high tech user who knows how to break into their modem's config to get these readings, but still. I would call the 1800COMCAST number before 6pm and speak to a rep so they can send a tech out to test your line.

I grabbed this around the time of the Olympics. August 16 through the 17th iirc... there was a glitch in this background image on my IntelliStar (21873 - Camden)... It had lasted for about a day until the Star was taken down about 4am to fix the image.

I apologize for the TiVo progress bar on the screen...
