Questions, Comments, Suggestions / Vote On the Logo Style You Like!
« on: March 28, 2009, 03:03:00 AM »
ok... Some people prefer the two lined version of the logo I made, and some prefer TWC Today be on one line... I am going to leave it up on a poll for the community to vote on the style they like. Whichever style gets the most votes by the end of the weekend (or earlier, depending on the amount of votes versus active users), will be the style I will go with and I'll begin the development of new logos with the style picked! I look forward to comments and suggestions.

Contributions / Me and Billy made a discovery...
« on: March 27, 2009, 07:34:04 PM »
Well me and Billy last night noticed that the Homeland Security alert scale graphic uses the same exact font for the on air graphics of Weather Center/A&B... So we both went on a hunt for the font, and we've discovered that it's a font called Bank Gothic. It's actually a pretty popular commercial font. Now, the Light and Medium versions of the font are found freely on the web, but the Bold and Condensed versions of the font will run you around $32, which is the cheapest I've found. I'll happily attach the Light and Medium versions to this post. Enjoy!

General Weather Chat / My area's under a fire watch O_o
« on: March 23, 2009, 05:26:43 AM »
Quote
Issued by The National Weather Service
Philadelphia, PA
4:33 am EDT, Mon., Mar. 23, 2009

... ENHANCED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS TODAY...

A LARGE AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE PUSHING DOWN FROM THE NORTH WILL BRING VERY DRY AIR AND GUSTY WINDS TO THE REGION TODAY. THESE CONDITIONS WILL BRING AN INCREASING THREAT FOR RAPIDLY SPREADING WILDFIRES LATER THIS MORNING THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND INTO THE EARLY EVENING HOURS.

A NORTH TO NORTHWEST WIND OF 10 TO 15 MPH IS EXPECTED TODAY, WITH OCCASIONAL GUSTS TO AROUND 20 MPH. RELATIVE HUMIDITY LEVELS ARE FORECAST TO DROP TO AROUND 20 PERCENT OR LESS THIS AFTERNOON. WITH THE RECENT DRY CONDITIONS, THERE IS A HEIGHTENED CONCERN FOR WILDFIRES TODAY.

THE FORECAST WIND SPEEDS FOR TODAY FALL JUST BELOW THE RED FLAG WARNING CRITERIA FOR NEW JERSEY, DELAWARE AND MARYLAND. AS A RESULT, NO WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED. HOWEVER, THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILL CONTINUE TO CLOSELY MONITOR THE SITUATION.

OCMs & Personalities / Two more cuts have been made....
« on: March 18, 2009, 10:38:04 PM »
It seems Natalie Allen and Jorma Duran are both gone now. Their profiles are removed from the personalities page. I know they don't qualify as OCMs, but this is the appropriate spot to put this.

« on: March 16, 2009, 06:07:20 AM »
According to the promo bumpers, Next week is Why I Love Spring week... There will be Epic Conditions and Weather Ventures on during that programming block (I'm not seeing that any are new as of yet) and Sunday 2pm will be a "Why I Love Spring" half hour special. The description is the following: Special, Weather (2009) Meteorologist Stephanie Abrams presents activities, sports and travel suggestions for the spring season.

« on: March 05, 2009, 04:20:06 PM »
I haven't seen a setup like this before... It's two low pressure systems connected by a surface trough.... this whole thing looks like a spider web, lol  I don't exactly know how this happens but it's an interesting thing to see!

« on: February 16, 2009, 05:02:38 AM »
Well Since there's no thread on Jim Cantore specifically in this OCM forum, I decided to make one. Today (February 16) is Jim's 45th birthday! I wish him a happy birthday!  B)
