General Discussion / Re: The Front Porch
« on: April 04, 2011, 04:36:54 AM »
Sorry I'm a bit late, but better late than never.

So I did a few shenanigans for April Fools day, I flipped a couple teachers monitors  by pressing control alt left arrow, remote shutdown a few computers, and had a kid let me borrow their phone so I sent a bunch of random stuff to his contacts.

Pic related- It's the remote shutdown (Initiated with file prophet.bat)

To follow up from Josh's post above, we shouldn't be dependent on just one source for energy.  Let me give you all some numbers I looked up to think about here:  70% of electricity in the United States comes from fossil fuels alone (coal, natural gas, and petroleum).  Meanwhile, about 90% of France's electricity comes from their own nuclear plants, hydro plants, and other renewable resources.  They don't have to rely on foreign sources nearly as much.  Why can't we be like that?

Anyway, regular unleaded gasoline is $3.26 per gallon in my area today.
Damn right! Nuclear is the way to go. Safe, clean and efficient. France even recycles the fuel rods they use in their plants.
Nuclear energy is amazing. It's just misunderstood...
Anyways... I've seen $3.60 earlier. I also have seen $3.52 in South Lansing.

Well, after seeing the Japan crisis, it's not happening since-
  • It has brought alot of fear, therefore people will vote against it.
  • The oil loophole I mentioned earlier.
  • We won't stop until the last drop of oil/coal/gas is gone.
  • It's too heavily relyed on.

Also, $3.58 at my nearby Shell.

I noticed alot of gas stations are changing their signs to electric now since the prices skyrocketed.

The government doesn't care about us anymore... they only care about what Obama and Congress think. :hmm:
>congress

Like my English Teacher says-

PRO = PROGRESS

CON = CONGRESS

What we simply need to do is just work on not relying for oil. I see this gas price rise crisis every year. Then again, We're stuck in a loop that never breaks. This is how it goes-

  • Prices go up since lame excuse is made
WE'RE GOING TO WORK ON NEW SOURCES OF ENERGY.
  • Oil Company lowers prices when told that
Oh, well let's stick to oil then!
  • Repeat.

We're never going to leave this loop. I can't even IMAGINE the gas prices in California. They're like 20-50 cents higher than what we pay in Texas.

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: Cable Boxes

I just have a Motorola DCT6412 III provided by Suddenlink. It works nice, just wish that the resolution it broadcasts was 720p rather than 1080i. That would be nice.

No, it isn't the National LDL. We got the National feed LF cued for about an hour one day, the vocal local has been disabled off and on during some days, and the LWXID page hasn't shown the cable provider, radio station/newspaper, or ID in about a year, actually.
Yes, star team has to take a look at that.

Hmm, I didn't clear my cache and I was seeing the Valentines Day logo up until the last couple of hours. Now the regular one used for WC is up.

Me too. I'll never understand the whole cache/cookies thing.

cache uses a net, cookies are tasty and you eat them.

It seems that a .5 upload boost and 5 download boost makes a big difference.

. Ever since they put the national LDL on the normal TWC feed, they disabled legacy star LDLs.

As for the star ID missing, star team will have to look at that.

5:53 AM Central Time

WUWA ended early or commercials didn't cue so the emergency feed with Smooth Sailing played for a few seconds.
