Maybe they'll return "Your Weather Today with Abrams and Bettes"?   :thrilled:

I don't think they're gonna move Mike Bettes off a show he hosts and is the poster boy for (see the LF background) less than 6 months after launching it. The more likely scenario is Abrams joining Bettes on WUTV. A change that I would not mind at all.

I was absolutely shocked when I heard about this a few minutes ago. Just incredible.

Fresh upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Not bad at all.

No I'm talking about TWC not Weathercan. All SD Istars on TWC are gradually being upgraded. Weatherscans fate is undetermined though I'd say it's future looks grim.

It's been posted in this forum for quite a while now that there are simply no Weatherscan updates in the works at all.  In other words, what already exists will continue to exist as it is, no better and no worse, simply because nothing's changing.  Eventually the IntelliStar units will begin to wear out.  What will happen when this becomes an issue?  I don't know.  Maybe there's still a stock of replacement units that can be shipped out.  Or, most likely, maybe the service will just be allowed to die off as IntelliStars begin to stop working, one by one, or as cable companies quietly drop the service, until Weatherscan simply ceases to be.  Or, also a possibility, maybe The Weather Channel will just discontinue the service on its own one of these days.

So, grim, perhaps, but it's not dead quite yet.
I would imagine that this is the most likely course. It would probably cost TWC too much to recall all of the units or issue replacement parts. I do know they were still doing this as of last December though, so...

In any case, TWC is still signing agreements with cable providers keeping WxScan through at least 2018 so, it's not going anywhere for at least the immediate future.

I'm not 100% sure if the STAR being shown on the SD channel around here is the IS2. The LDL and sidebar are synced up correctly but, the actual local forecasts opened with different greetings on the SD and HD channels. The SD version didn't have the local ad crawl and the tornado week ad glitch showed up only on the SD channel. I'm not sure if it's an IS2 Jr. (I don't think so) but it's still peculiar.
I think you may have an IS2xD Unit. I can confirm that the IS2HD and IS2xD are 2 seperate units. The IS2xD has the capability to broadcast over the SD and HD feeds simultaneously. As for the LDL and Sidebar being synced, the IS2 units have some sort of "fail-safe" in case the unit's LDL cues late. If the LDL or sidebar is cued late, the IS2, somehow, changes the LDL or sidebar to the correct product. It's the same technology in the IS2s LF "fail-safe".
Interesting. I went into Vegas and synced up the audio and video and put them side-by-side and the SD LF cued just a bit ahead of (and I'm talking by 2 frames) the HD LF. I rendered out a video of the side-by-side, I'll see how fast I can upload it.

Not quite sure when exactly but FPB finally letterboxed the IS2 on the SD feed. Our old friend Intellistar #23273 looks to have seen its final forecast.

Pretty much all day, Weatherscan hasn't had a background. I assume when the unit tried to get the green logo for Earth Day, the entire background corrupted and is just showing a light blue background behind the individual product panes. No TWC or Weatherscan logo on screen.

  In the case where a headend does not offer TWC in HD, they'll probably have to get an IS2 Jr instead.  :dunno:
My guess is that depending on the status of your cable company's agreement with TWC, they'll be forced to carry it at some point. For instance, when the agreement one before last was signed here (2010), HD carriage was pretty much mandatory. They didn't get the IS2 for another 6 months, but still. I don't think TWC would want to use an IS2Jr. because their end goal is probably full-time 16:9 much like the other major news channels (all 3 C-SPANs, FOX News, CNN/HLN, MSNBC, both CNBC and FBN. Only one not letterboxed around here is Al Jazeera America).

Weatherscan Discussion / Re: Weatherscan Topic

FPB has posted a notice explaining that our Weatherscan unit will be out for a few days, with repairs coming next week. They say they'll be running a simulcast of The Weather Channel complete with LOT8s until it's fixed, but I think they'll just stick with the national feed.

EDIT: Took about 5 days but they finally started simulcasting the SD Intellistar feed on 19 until WS is fixed. One problem though, they're simulcasting TWC SD on the HD feed too. So channel 19, 49 and 549 are showing the exact. same. thing.

IMO, if there was a way to just cut the sidebar from the IS2 (and maybe a slight bit of the video window), you could even take the IS2 feed and make it 4:3 for SD viewers, because the info is pretty much the same and presented in the same way.

Did anybody with a Weatherscan see any DST glitches last night?

Sorry for double posting BTW.
Crap. I'm usually the one on the lookout for those but I went to bed "early" last night and forgot to set the DVR.

Two things. 1. When did the IS2 get traffic? And 2. When did my town get big enough for a traffic report?

Edit: It took me a while to finally get the pictures attached. Every time I posted from my phone, the pictures would be flipped upside down. Only way to fix it was to flip the picture upside down and then re-flip it to the correct orientation in the Photos app.
