Programming and Graphics / Re: Updated Graphics
« on: August 25, 2011, 07:33:35 PM »
It looks like there is a very neat little lower-line on MSNBC for TWC updates, generated from TWC's graphics packages.
They oughta show that even during primetime political programming (Last Word, Maddow, etc.). Considering it's more important than the regular crawl that they turn off at 4pm...

Considering the XL was discontinued a LDL, I don't believe that it would be redboxed, eh?
The update was only for the Intellistar and IS2. I'm afraid the XL likely won't be getting anymore updates.

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

Severe Thunderstorm Warnings are issued all the time, usually for good reason such as doppler estimated winds. But people just shrug it off because most of the time it "isn't that bad". They don't realize that something like this can happen. My guess is that they only think that tornadic winds can cause it. People need to realize that just because it's not tornado-warned, doesn't mean it's not dangerous.

Hello STAR team. Today when I hooked up my kitchen's HD TV to my cable box via HDMI and I saw my IS2, I noticed an interstate number/shield error as shown in the pictures below.

The interstate in question on the map is Interstate 55. I-55 there should be Interstate 64. Can this be changed? All other interstate shields on the map are correct.

Also can Means be changed on our metro/regional map to something like Mt. Sterling or Richmond? Means is not a very big community, in fact, I didn't even know there was a town called that until we got our IS2.

A couple more changes that would make sense. Can Williamstown be changed to Owenton and Bedford be changed to La Grange or Charlestown? It seems this map would make more sense with some cities and towns that are more widely known. I sloppily put together this "concept map" of what would be moved where if this is possible.

I understand if this cannot be done and I don't want to sound pushy, but thank you in advance if you can.

General Discussion / Re: Post your desktops

My Mac's desktop, the background was taken earlier tonight with WDRB (Louisville Fox Station) Chief Meteorologist Marc Weinberg. I went there and he showed off the weather office at the station, possibly some videos of that coming on Youtube...

I noticed his severe weather music sounds similar our storm alert!

Reminds me of the theme Louisville's Fox Station (I was actually there earlier tonight) uses for their 6:30 Newscast, They use "Lighthouse" by 360 for everything else.

IntelliStar 2 Discussion / Re: IntelliStar 2 Beta Launch

I sent insight in Louisville, KY an email asking when they will have the local on the 8's Louisville forecast in hd. They sent a response a few days later and said by the end of June.
That would make the second KY IS2, right?

I'll say, as a person watching the stations in the market where it hit, Even if they didn't break in, a dual feed update would have worked for the area. Louisville is the biggest city in Kentucky and I know has an IS, the surrounding area that was affected has the Louisville IS, so no problem there. The big problem was that by the time they would get extended live coverage, the storms started to wind down. TWC was too little, too late. I saw TWC ONCE talk about the Louisville storm. Also, the storms simply weren't as bad as the FAAF storms from that night. The storms in Arkansas killed a few people. Here, nobody was even injured. Also, the storms weren't EF-3's or anything, at most maybe weak EF-2. There was a lot of damage though.
