Hmm... new designs on the discs. I got mine back in 2008. Those look better than the ones I have. He signed mine too, but in pen instead of in silver sharpie. IMO, the new discs look better than the old ones...

Ever had a forecast for your area go bad?

For example, today in Grand Forks, they were calling for breezy conditions and mostly sunny skies...but this afternoon skies turned quickly overcast and we've had snow showers on and off all day.

Plenty of times. On Christmas Day 2007, the forecast was for sunny skies and temps in the 50s, instead we got a COLD, raw heavy rain with temperatures in the 40s, there was also some sleet and thunder at the onslaught of the event.

One day back in June 2009 there was a forecast for sunny/hot conditions. Around 1pm the SPC issued a PDS Severe T'Storm Watch. This one still baffles me, we saw thunderstorms, but not to warrant the watch a Particularly Dangerous Situation!
I remember that day, we only had a regular t'storm watch (or a tornado watch, I can't remember) but, the SPC saw what that system did in IL, IN, and KY and issued that PDS watch. Then the derecho completely fizzled out once it left Kentucky.

General Discussion / Re: Nationwide EAS test
« on: November 09, 2011, 08:44:05 PM »
This is what I saw today at 1 PM CST:

Nick Walker: "Well, we have a programming note for you. In just a few seconds, there will be a nationwide test of the EAS. Again, this is only a test. The test will begin shortly" (Looks to the monitor as in anticipation of the test)

Vivian Brown: (Big Picture Forecast)

Nick Walker: "The nationwide test of the EAS is now over"

FAIL

The test was supposed to begin at 2 PM ET however, based on the tape I set to record (which luckily was set to a news channel so I could see the time), the test was initiated (or received) at 2:03 PM.

It also was apparently routed through local radio station WSTV-FM, whereas normally, FPB transmits it. I guess because it went out on PEP stations...

My test:
National EAS Test - Frankfort, KY (Frankfort PB) - 11/9/2011 2:03 PM

also apparently, my city sounded the outdoor sirens too...

I am most interested in college football right now and what it's being called it the "Game of the Century", my team, the (number 2) Alabama Crimson Tide are about to take on the (number 1) LSU Tigers. It should be a great game. The kinda game that might give me a heart attack to watch.  :fear:
I merged your post into this topic as it already exists.  Unfortunately, your team needs to learn how to play special teams better as that cost you the game against LSU.  Sorry about what happened tonight.
Thank you. I remembered there being one and I even searched but couldn't find it.

Yes, our kicking game was pathetic last night. I was so heartbroken about the loss. :( So much for a national championship.
You guys still have a shot, you only dropped to three in the BCS rankings...

General Discussion / Re: 5.6m Oklahoma Earthquake
« on: November 06, 2011, 02:04:54 PM »
Yes, the New Madrid is due, the largest earthquake since 1811-12 was a 6.6 in 1895. USGS says there's a 10% chance of a quake comparable to the 1811-12 quakes in the next 50 years on the NMSZ. However, I'm slightly more concerned with the closer Wabash Valley Seismic Zone on the IL/IN border...
