Local Forecast / Re: WeatherSTAR I/II/III Unit?
« on: April 17, 2010, 09:39:30 PM »Too bad TWC only put this on their support site. This is the back of it with a 39k ohm resistor on the temp terminal to set the temp to 70 degrees. This is the only picture on the back that I can find. Jeez, I wish TWC just took a picture of the front of the 3000 lol. But, heres the back of it with that resistor.
(This picture may take time to load, since it's from the dreaded web archive =\)
Similar to the back of the 4000. I suspect its a bit smaller. The 4000 is quite big.
Yep, that's what I am assuming as well
Anywho, I wish that TWC STAR team would just release one picture, So everyone knew what it looked like

Local Forecast / Re: Question about all WeatherSTAR's
« on: April 17, 2010, 05:55:48 PM »Actually the WeatherSTAR 3000 was decommissioned by the FCC because it could not produce a alert tone at the start of a warning and making upgrades to it would have been expensive. If you read my post carefully, I said that
Quote
The only reason why the STAR III was decommisioned was because alomost none were utilized, since most companies upgraded to the 4000, Jr, XL, or even the IntelliStar. What's the use in spending money for something that almost no one utilizes? If I recall, about 5 were being used near 2004? Maybe more?I could have been a little more specific probaly, but that shines the light on it

« on: April 17, 2010, 05:02:16 PM »I know that you only mentioned the I/II/III, but here is the Jr.I have 2 things to say.
- I have a Jr. I don't need to know what it looks like. I thought you already knew that I own one.
- Don't use Henrys picture without his permission. I mean, just saying
Anyways,
I only know what the back of the I/II/III looks like. It has tons of terminal strips on it like the 4000 does.

Local Forecast / Re: Question about all WeatherSTAR's
« on: April 15, 2010, 12:33:08 AM »
Just adding two cents here, but how the heck can any STAR be low tech? The WeatherStar's are quite complex, even the WeatherStar Platform (The unit that series I, II, and III utilized. I don't know what the exact name was, just guessing WeatherStar.)
The only reason why the STAR III was decommisioned was because alomost none were utilized, since most companies upgraded to the 4000, Jr, XL, or even the IntelliStar. General Discussion / Re: The Front Porch
« on: April 15, 2010, 12:18:49 AM »Sorry about the double post... just wanted to put my word in, tooThat's exactly to why I don't watch the show anymore. Yes, I know I still enjoy it, but like I said, it's mostly the "classic" stuff (meaning 1999).Gotchya. Didn't even know they still made Pokemon. Hmm..guess you learn something new everyday. They are going to milk the series to death. I enjoyed the cartoon and some of the games back in the day. Now its just childish and dumb to me. The series is just a money making gimmick now imo.
Exactly! Only the 1999 series was good. Good times, I used to be obsessed with the games too. Like Pokemon Red (Fire... whatever it was lol). After they introduced the new pokemon to the series, I just said screw it. But like Martin said, it's a money making gimmick. I can't stand that show anymore.

General Discussion / Re: The Front Porch
« on: April 15, 2010, 12:14:03 AM »Yeah Aaron, congrats! Does this mean you'll be working on Channel 925? Or whatever it was for educational access? If so, i'll tune inWell, the decisions have been made, and I got in on my school's TV Production staff for next year! I'm not sure when decisions as to who will be on what group (and other things of that nature) will be made.Congrats, Aaron!
And Josh, I'm sure whatever is going on will stop. Every town has it's flaws. Example, mine and East Lansing (Don't know about Haslett), seem to be home of some stoners. Do they do anything? Not really. Keep to them selfs? Yes. And the worst crime i've seen in my neighborhoos is just a mailbox fire down the road. That's it.
But your situation is a bit different...
You will need
- An Gun
- Ammo
- An knife to put in their hand. Good ol' Texas laws really don't care. If they have a weopon equiped, anyone is eligable to protect
Hope that helped

Local Forecast / Re: LDL Ads (Suggestion)
« on: April 14, 2010, 10:15:49 PM »I blame the fact that the government is doing everything becides helping our horrible economy problem Helthcare was screwed up, still is, but it didn't even need that much attention like the economy. If the government does something to help the economy, maybe networks will be like they used to, but it clearly isn't the caseWow, I just miss the days where networks were more concerned about the purpose of them. Seems all networks care about is money, money, and more money. :/So true. Sadly the desire to make every penny effects quality

Local Forecast / Re: LDL Ads (Suggestion)
« on: April 14, 2010, 05:22:11 PM »DING DING DING! Thats another efficient solution, thus still meeting the requests for the full LDL, so it doesnt look cheesy with the two backgrounds on the LDLs.Seriously? Of course they probably thought of this. However the method they use now makes it easier on TWCs end to push advertising. Plus TWC wants to show ads to people not on the IS too. Why send ads to the IS when they are already being shown on screen for legacy STAR viewers? Why not just move the ad back to the upper-right corner like how it was during the chromakey days? This would end the issues altogether, and you can still see the logos just as good.

« on: April 14, 2010, 03:53:22 PM »W00T I'm not aloneOk, so I saw that the time was added to the IntelliStar LDL it's self. I think it's a great step up, but, I was wondering... would it be possible to make the LDL come up in full (So the National LDL section wont show), and just send the ad to the IntelliStar and it will show it on the IntelliStars LDL? Since personaly, I think it looks a bit funny with the two different backgroundsThat's what I've been saying all along! But I doubt it will happen.
