Thanks everyone for the warm welcome back! I'll try making it a habit again to poke around here  And to start off my "return", I changed my forum picture for the first time in about two years  (that is me haha)
This time I'm not uploading anymore videos. :/ I haven't even uploaded videos anyways :P
Haha :bleh:

Hey there everyone. Dang, I haven't been on here in ages... so I decided to drop by. Hope everyone's going well and is having a good fall so far

And neat about the Kindle. I've actually wanted one (I am not big into books), but I figured that I would enjoy them better with thousands of books to my disposal.

Have fun in Michigan! Maybe you'll see an XL if you're lucky.

On the contrary, I would actually love to live in Dallas. So many things to do, so many major league sports, Dirk Nowitzki, and the nice weather that would come...eventually. But I would hate living there in the summer, too. It's warmer at night than near the Gulf of Mexico, and it is surprisingly humid there too.
South West Michigan doesn't have any XLs iirc :P Northern MI had tons! Theres also a 4000 up north, and a 4000 somewhere around Port Huron (May have been removed, but I believe it's still running).

btw, I assume your subscribing to Bright house right?

Yes.  My apartment complex offers expanded cable for free.  Only in SD, which will be a waste for my HDTV set, but even if I pay extra for HD channels, there still isn't any HD feed of The Weather Channel to speak of, or Weatherscan, for that matter.  But the reason for no Weatherscan is because Bright House has its own local weather station.
It's called Dim House for a reason :bleh:

Everything Else Classic TWC / TWC and Hurricane Fran
« on: June 13, 2011, 02:16:52 AM »
Hello everyone,
I found an old VHS tape that had a lot of footage from Hurricane Fran (I was in this hurricane with my family in Wilmington, NC... where the eye of the storm hit). On this tape, there were a few times when you would see TWC. Well, I am sad to say that there wasn't an LF that was recorded. But, I do have graphics, OCMs, etc., and the WeatherStar 4000s warning crawl. Here's the pictures :D

The operating system is Irix, an Unix variant. And the SGI frames will only be able to be used if you have Photoshop or some other program like that :P

You have to be really experienced in computer programming in order to be capable of getting it to access TWC's satellite feeds. Only a few of us have been able to do that.
No, you just need the equipment and an understanding of how it all works together.

And, the computer inside the XL is the XLs hardware... so there isn't two XLs, if that's what you mean. And is it worth something? Yep  What I would do is open the back of the XL up and connect Video Out to Video In on a modulator or other equipment that can accept the signal. That should at least let you see what version of the graphics it has.

Edit: I stand corrected on the two computers after seeing those pics ;)

Gaaaaawd, people can be sooooo stooopid these days. They think the world is going to end tomorrow.
People thought the world was going to end wwwwaaaayyyyy back in the day. Some guy in California thought it was going to end in 1997, people think it will in 2012... pssh. The day the world ends is when the sun turns into a red giant, then into a nebula in billions of years from now...

In other news.... dook dook. :3
lol :bleh:

Still $3.94 here... Well, at least it's under $4.
No kidding!

$3.84 at the Marathon station near my house.
