General Discussion / Re: Weather Dreams
« on: December 03, 2011, 12:04:23 AM »
Mine is somewhat similar to Patrick's story. I remember it clear as daylight...

What happened (Reality, not a dream): It was about two years ago. I had recently visited Oklahoma (I have family down there) and got caught in a tornado warning around Tulsa. The tornado touched down under three miles or so from where I was. A town where we were planning on stopping for the night was demolished by this tornado (I'd guess it's an F3 or so). Obviously shocked, yet happy that we missed that exit, I didn't know what to think. Then about a week later this dream happened...

Dream: It was late July. A rather muggy summer day with a high around 90°. A little hot for Michigan's standard summer, but not out of the question. Off to my west over the Great Lakes, huge cumulonimbus clouds were brewing up. I turned the TV on, and sure enough there was a WeatherStar III scrolling a tornado watch. As I am the kind of guy who loves weather, my adrenaline started rushing as I was excited for this event. A few hours later,  the WeatherStar III started scrolling a tornado warning for my county... with the tornado over the MSU campus if I remember properly. When I looked out my window, the clouds were a greenish-yellow tint, especially to my west. I got in my car (Funny because I don't even own one yet, but I can dream :P ) and started driving west in hope of seeing the tornado. The tornado sirens started to go off around me and it started to hail, then to my east, I saw the tornado (I was parallel to it at the moment). I remember it ripping buildings apart and throwing buildings around like a child throwing toys around. The tornado started moving towards me with the notorious freight train sound. When it got about 50 yards away, I woke up and noticed that I sweat a puddle in my pillow :P Quite the dream like I said, and it sticks out.

One more day until its back to High School. This break has been nice, but I realized I had too much time to myself in these past few days with nothing to do. I'm kinda glad to go back now. Didn't go black Friday shopping either, way too many people for that lol.
Heh. I'm actually not even wanting to go back to school. High schools fun and all... but the work! :bleh: This is why I can't wait for my 3 week break :)

Their development team is extremely conservative with their work.
What do you mean?
I mean that they release it to their "veteran members" before everyone else. That was something I found pretty much unnecessary.  And then they keep trying to keep the program away from this Justin kid, and I am sure that's their whole  reasoning behind the enhanced security. And I also believe that you have to be a registered member with more than a certain amount of posts to download it. I just find all of this stuff to be unneeded.
Curt, you took the words right out of my mouth, couldn't agree more with what you said... :D
Glad you agree

I have never been a member of Taiganet, but it looks like that is the only "TWC Fan" forum that still has very tight security restrictions for guests.  I guess the admin (Bill?) has had some problems that TWCC and TWCT one experienced. :hmm:
Those forums are screwed up in so many ways. Here's my list of flaws:
  • Too locked down on security. It shouldn't be such a hassle to get onto the forums.
  • Their development team is extremely conservative with their work.
  • Some (not naming who) development team members have quite the attitude. I can think of a few things that I have been told, but I will not disclose it due to the fact that I will get banned here for having quite a colorful vocabulary. :bleh:
Yeah. Those forums aren't the best around...

"The Box" is what I've heard old people call it. :P

I'm actually going to be a mobster. Yeah yeah, I know. Not the most original thing. But, at least I already had all of the stuff for it. Pinstripe suit, black shoes, etc. And I promise I won't hurt  anyone... :club:

Hey guys! I have been lovingly watching these past few days but lurking since I didn't have too much time. I've been busy with mid-terms, doctor appointments, projects, Irene cleanup/fixing (STILL!!!) and more. :P I found out I had a back injury from swimming years ago that has gotten worse so I am going to a chiropractor multiple times a week for it. Not a big deal but time consuming.

One exciting thing for me anyways is that I leave tomorrow to go to the National Weather Association Conference in Birmingham, AL until Tuesday. Looking forward to being with a whole bunch of weather geeks :D :D
Hope you enjoy your time at the conference!  I also hope you can get your back pain relieved soon.
I second Patrick. Have a great time, Martin! (And I hope that back back pain goes away soon).
