General Discussion / Re: The Front Porch

I just noticed that the current weather information under all of our profiles aren't working.
That's a problem on HAMweather's end, not ours. It's happening on my HAMweather page as well.

Yeah, they've been broken for quite a few days now.  I noticed they went out as soon as NWS changed to their new website design, so I think that might have something to do with it.  If this is a problem on HAMweather's end, then I guess there's nothing we can do about it.  To be honest, I personally have no idea how to access the information, but I may contact Patrick or Martin just to double-check that there's not a link problem on the forums.
I'm not stopping you from double-checking with both, but I can assure you that it's a problem on their end and not ours.  And I looked on the HAMweather site a few days back and it seems that HAMweather3 (the software used to power the profile conditions) is no longer supported either, so I have no idea if it's gonna be fixed or not. :hmm:

It's also quite a coincidence that the ADDS fixes their problem, but then HAMweather becomes broken at the same time!

General Discussion / Re: Post your desktops
« on: July 07, 2012, 10:30:32 AM »
This is my other desktop, which still has the Consumer Preview of Windows 8. I really don't use it much  for personal use (hence why IE is the only browser installed :P), but I do run an IRC server, a Twitter weather bot, a Wunderground weather radio stream for my area and any video streaming I do with it.

Also, because it powers the main wifi, I send it through my UPS (hence the battery icon on a desktop :bleh:). I have a CAT6 ethernet cable to bridge the connection over to my main desktop.

Finally, I thought the Windows 7 background looked better, so that's why I have that set as the background.

It is, but what I mean is how does it suddenly start working out of the clear blue after 7months of being down? :dunno:
It was an issue on the ADDS' end and is kinda hard to explain on why, but I do know what caused the observations to go down originally.

For those of you that use the WS4000 v3 emulator, I can officially report that observations are working again! :twothumbs:

I don't follow...how is this possible?

Are they not working for you? they work just fine for me :dunno:

I noticed the red outline box on the seven day for possible severe weather.  Last time I saw it was back when Irene was going to hit us back last August.  Has it been brought back?
The red boxes only appear whenever extreme weather is prominent in your area and has to be activated by TWC manually. It's never been discontinued, but maybe nothing major has happened between now and Irene to where your area's IntelliStar would need to have the red box utilized.

Sorry for double post! :doublepost:

I just have to post this because this was just crazy. I just fooled my whole family because I said that a storm would just past to the west of here, and they believed it! So they just had desert outside and all of a sudden it starts down pouring on them! Hahahahaha. Sucks to be them, I'm sitting inside.  :bleh: :rofl2:
Well that's not very nice to do. If it taught them a lesson with the above t-storm warning, maybe. Just don't let them get hurt or anything.
Yeah Craig, I would have to agree with Donovan.. that wasn't very nice of you to do to your family. :hmm: They could have gotten hurt had anything worse happened. If they don't understand the ability of a thunderstorm, then that's their own fault.

The heat index was only 100, and they showed the HST screen? Ours doesn't show unless it is 115º+ and there is an open slot
IIRC, yours showed at a 105° value last year.. at any rate, it really varies by geographical location (I think).

Early Morning Riser and Sunshine are not overnight songs, IMO. Even if they are on the "just instrumentals" daypart.

Everything Else TWC / Re: TWC Acquires....Wunderground!?!?!?!

Wunderground's default API now requires signup and is capped at every tier possible.. however if you can do some digging, you can find their obsolete and free API. I use their obsolete API currently (my CC pages and my signature here, for example), but if you're good with PHP you can modify how the data is parsed. The only real difference I notice between their newer API and their obsolete API (in terms of the data being parsed) is that the newer API parses the nighttime icons in their CC API, whilst the older and obsolete API does not.
