I am listening to radios from the NWS Melbourne and it appears that they have entered into maintenance mode. I heard this happen on all NWS Ruskin stations back in late June when Debby was largely impacting us and products were limited. Then again, in TBW's case, the transmitter crashed due to an overload of warnings getting issued the following day.

« on: August 06, 2012, 08:10:46 PM »FYI, in case you didn't know, that's a Modulator siren by Federal Signal.There are a few of those on the University of South Florida campus and (through Google maps satellite image), I saw one on MacDill AFB in my area
Also, there are Whelen WPS sirens all over Hillsborough County. There are a handful of Whelen WPS-28xx sirens (not sure on what exact model since I haven't counted the speakers) around port Tampa used in the emergency of toxic spills and a trio of Whelen WPS-2810s in and around the Valrico area used to alert residents of a breach at the Meddard reservoir.

End of story, that's MY opinion.The majority of people I know don't care how many warnings there are - just that there is one.I was saying that on TWC following 3 of the beeps it has a narration saying "A _________ warning has been issued for your area.", while Weatherscan doesn't. People will know that a warning was just issued with the narration, but w/o it people may be fooled into thinking that another warning was issued when in reality it's just re-scrollig the one previously issued.I have noticed, unlike TWC, there is no narration after 3 of the beeps saying "A _________ warning has been issued for your area." followed by 3 more beeps. I hate this, as it tricks people into thinking a warning was just issued when one wasn't.What are you talking about? Weatherscan only beeps whenever a warning gets issued...
