Questions, Comments, Suggestions / Re: Site/Forum Performance

Page load speed: Usually from 5 to 30 seconds depending on media content if any
Audio/video: seems fine for my connection
Search speeds: a little slow and only query to posts forum-wide when only viewing the board index
Latency: It depends how many programs connecting to a port I have open and browser. In SeaMonkey, pages load in 2 seconds
Database/SQL errors: To my extent those happen at least any hour everyday at :05 past and are fixed in a refresh
Overall its a 6 for me

General Discussion / Re: The Front Porch
« on: August 22, 2010, 12:40:36 AM »I dunno if Directv is inserting local stuff into the :17/:47 inserts on TWC cuz i saw this after reviewing my PME recording from this evening
Haven't seen any on mine.... yet?
Usually DirecTV would send out any headend-inserted ads out nationwide but i could have elaborated a little. Usually the ads seen at the :17/:47 inserts on DirecTV are ones for products you can order via toll free phone calls. Ill look at the :17 part of my recording to see if it was a local ad for my area to insert as well

General Discussion / Re: What Type of Cell Phone Do You Have?
« on: August 21, 2010, 07:38:06 PM »I have a tracfone. Why? I don't text, seldom do I make calls, don't need to browse the web, no need to get the latest updates on stuff I don't care about, don't need to watch a cinema quality movie I have a HD TV for that. I could go on.Neat someone like me

I use AT&Ts go phone plan (got it under Cingular) and originally had a Tracfone-like device (people at school accused it of saying it was a Tracfone device and it clearly had Cingulars logo on it after me showing it to them

General Weather Chat / Re: Summer 2009 Heat Compared to Summer 2010
« on: August 21, 2010, 07:33:42 PM »Here in Tampa, the summer has been pretty brutal. There seems to be a lot more 95+ degree highs this summer compared to last year. Plus the heat indices have gone upwards of 115 or so.Out here in NE Hillsborough my thermometer has gotten up to 115 to 120 in the afternoons this summer and rainfall is definitely up from last year. iirc last year August which is Tampas wettest month in climatology was one of the driest months in 2009

General Discussion / Re: Dish Network: I *may* get it...
« on: August 21, 2010, 07:28:24 PM »I would never get Dish, DirecTV, or U-Verse because I love my WeatherStar Local Forecasts. Plus, I wouldn't get Dish because the reception could get crappy in bad weather.TWC isnt supposed to be just for the local forecasts but just weather in general. Thats what you have weather.com for
As for wx and reception satellite is not for you if you have a sense of impatience like me and get lots of wet weather

Its a shame that a lot of storms have sheared off this year
i wonder that when predictions are made that they only look at water temps but not wind patterns
just seems that way lol
