Local Forecast / Re: General LF Discussion

I actually disagree about your statement with the XL's radar for two reasons: it gets the same data from where the IS does, but processes it differently and the IS's radar is more higher-resolution (the XL's is pixellated) and the IS's radar maps easily can be easily customized for a headend's service area by having the map zoomed in/out, and more local if needbe. The XL only has one radar map and the only thing that could be customized were its plotted cities and geographical positioning of the map (no zooming, no hi-res data, etc).

Even though the overflow is not a problem anymore, I really think the "IRC Chat" should be removed.  It never works, and I see no use for wasted tabs.
How is it not working? It's a Java applet so you may need to authorize it to be used. Also, I agree with you in a way because hardly anyone here has actually visited the chat, regardless of joining the Ustream chat (the one on the IRC Chat tab) or the more active chat (possibly going to be made official if Martin approves) on my server.

Can anyone provide a screenshot of the beach screen that was talked about here?

Hi Martin,

We're particularly proud of that one. The design alone took forever and the programming on it to make the data flow correctly was a nightmare! But it works and I love seeing it in action!!! Too bad I'm not in a coastal area.

Also the Marine forecast screen is pretty cool too. Has anyone seen that one yet?

*Poor quality* but it's all I could find on YT at the moment.  The screen occurs at :46 in the video, and it's not considered a "beach forecast" but a "marine forecast."  I don't think a beach/getaway forecast exists on the IS2.

No, we're talking about a seperate screen than the marine forecast. ;)

Hey Kyle, it's great to hear from you!

Good to see that your project is doing good!  Will there be a stream for it again this time around?

Also, quite a bit of us still come around here, though we don't post as often as we used to due to TWC just not being of our dire interests anymore, but we still actively partake in general discussions.

Hope to see you around more, and again, best of luck on getting closer and closer to a launch of your weather station! :)

Guess I was wrong about the green logo on the SD feed... it just looks greener on my TV

Also, if you notice on the national LDL, the template boxes use the older purple gradient

Remember that "how does your garden grow" LOT8s promo from earlier this year for weather.com? The gardener from the video posted by KevOwensby is her. :P

On the IntelliStar, when Windy Conditions reported, the Windy icon doesn't display in any of the Current Conditions products, like Sunny and Windy, and Partly Cloudy and Windy, and Cloudy and Windy, but I hope in the future, Sunny and Windy icon, and Partly Cloudy and Windy, and Cloudy and Windy icon might be reported in any of the Current Conditions products, as well as the regular Windy icon when reported as "Fair and Windy", and "Mostly Cloudy and Windy".

The windy icon has never (and will likely) never be used on the CC product or The Week Ahead product because having an icon with the word "WINDY" right above a text forecast that says "windy" is redundant.

You spoke too soon :P

Seems a lot of Cox headends as of late have been adding IS2s. I would assume Ocala, FL has one if Pensacola has one being they are in the same relative location with the same cable company. I can probably check on that soon if I visit my grandfather.

Bill is very well aware of these problems, as he is the one who is actually causing them, for a good reason, and it's to keep his forum protective of spammers, but as far as detection goes, there is no such mod that can detect spam or not. Just be glad he has the whitelist function, or else you wouldnt be able to post at all anymore. The whitelists are refreshed so they can be somewhat unlimited to you, but it's just a nuisance that has to be dealt with. I don't mind whitelisting myself every other day, to be honest.

Emailed Ms. Medori again this morning and the November songs should be airing on WUWA now instead of the continued September/October list.. however, she also gave me official confirmation that vocals are indeed gone from WUWA.

Quote
Hi Zach,

Thank you for your note. We actually stopped playing vocals during “Wake Up With Al” during Hurricane Irene. At the time, we replaced the WUWA tracks with songs from our regular playlist and when November music started, this was not included. This has now been fixed. I appreciate it.

Have a great weekend,

Melissa
