Smooth jazz has been permanently removed from the playlists.
Where are you getting that info from?

It must be a retitling because it wasn't on the premier tracks website

As you know, the music on The Weather Channel has been evolving over the last several years toward a more contemporary, appropriate play list. The music played during full-screen Local on the 8s on The Weather Channel during the afternoon and morning day parts continues to adapt. Going forward, our music team will keep investigating different genres and change selections as needed to stay fresh and align with The Weather Channel brand.

That's all I can say for now.

I find it interesting how on some nights I'm only warmer by 5-10 degrees than some cities in the north but like 25-30 degrees in the afternoon IMP

Banned because this thread over the past 24-36 hours has been rather flame war-ish <_<

Banned because you may have been joking, but the tone of your post was rather rude and unnecessary...

Didn't they already have a show with this same title or a pretty darn similar title years ago?
Yes, Surviving the Elements, though the two shows will have totally different content delivered not of the same variety.

Banned because that observation isn't in Tampa, it's out in the county about 10 miles ENE of the city

Looks like with Q1 2012 programming, From the Edge is back, and WWCH is off (with exception of the Saturday/Sunday half-hour versions at 4 AM ET).
 Didn't realize From the Edge was out of the schedule
Strange, I remember seeing it just about a week ago.
It wasn't in the Q4 2011 loop, but seems to be in the Q1 2012 loop, so thats why you saw it Pavel ;)

General Discussion / Re: The Pot Belly Stove

Last night (before I went to bed, which was really this morning :P), I got my CC image page to force nighttime icons! What I managed to do was add a second source into the XML parsing algorithm to grab Wunderground's almanac data, and from using the sunrise, sunset, and the current times, I could make the script determine whether or not it's day or night. These are the variables I used:

It's nighttime if...
  • the sunrise time is greater than the current time or..
  • the sunset time is less than the current time

It's daytime if...
  • the current time is greater than the sunrise time or..
  • the current time is less than the sunset time

There is a glitch that I cannot fix, however, that for some odd reason, when it hits midnight at any given location in their local time zone, for that hour, the daytime icons come out. :hmm:

Anyways, sorry for the long post (tl;dr?).. but I thought I would share with you guys since it literally took like 4-5 hours for me to get this perfect in determining the time frames to use. No joke! Here's two comparison images I have attached, and the link to access the CC page on my server is located in my sig.. just change to your location of choice though after the '='.
