Certain image URLs from static cameras end up in a 'File Open Error' when used in the emulation. Whereas some URLs show no 'File Open Error' when used in the emulation.

Unsure if this is a bug, or if these images need to be a certain file format.

Hi there.. can you provide the user ID you are logging into CINE with so i can double-check your settings ?

I was using this emulator, and found out that the "F" key brings it forward one frame (or many if you hold it down). I read in another thread here that there was also a pause function, however I haven't been able to find it. If i press "F" enough it wont move forward a frame on its own until I press "F" again. Is there a separate button to pause it, and can I make it only move forward one frame and pause there too if I'd like it to? For example, If I pause on the Satellite Radar screen, and then I want it to go forward to the Regional Radar and pause on that frame indefinitely, am I able to do this?

F for Frame Advance
P for Pause

Its not perfect.. Programming wise, if I remember frame advance will be forced and unpaused on Radar-based products, which is because of the dynamic radar slide count..

Help and Support / Re: Wher e is the binary located?
« on: February 06, 2019, 11:02:18 AM »
The application installs to C:\wsxl and the executable is wsxl.exe .. If your emulator is asking for a key, utilize the 'Get Key' function to generate this.

After a year break, welcome back to the Pot Belly Stove. A communal way to get through the long dark nights of winter and share your grivences with the cold, snow and ice. (Thundersnow encounters are welcome here too!)

News and Updates / Intermediate Update - Aug 24 2018
« on: August 24, 2018, 04:01:17 PM »
Due to changes on the NWS data website, there have been format inconsistencies with the Extended Forecast product (SFT) across multiple states when downloaded (Hawaii, and Georgia to name a few). As I have been processing the NWS EMWIN data internally for alerts and other messages, I have decided to move the processing of this product in-house. To accommodate this, a change needed to be made in CINE, and in the emulator application.

If the Extended forecast has been spotty, or not functioning properly in the past, please select your city in the configuration, and build your settings together.

Additionally, this change will correct the intermittent temperature display to show erroneous characters (such as a / or improperly displayed negative numbers).

To utilize this intermediate update, download the binary from CINE, place in C:\WSXL, and run this executable directly.

Figured it's worth mentioning, yesterday was the 10 year anniversary of the debut of the "v2 IntelliStar." Time sure does fly...
This is the first video of the v2 iStar, from when mine was a beta.  October 9, 2007.  Includes the last v1, Evening Edition (After Dark), and the first v2.

Interesting to point, I was able to acquire your Star IS.. It's nice to see videos from when this system was in full operation! Yes, I have a payphone too!

Bug Reports / Re: Traffic Cutoff Text

For what its worth, selecting to display "Construction" events could show a narrative this long. On a normal day, Traffic incidents do not show this much of a detailed report.

Everything Else TWC / Re: Question about current stream I saw on YouTube.
« on: January 24, 2018, 08:24:21 PM »
Hello everyone, new user to the forum, really enjoy the old 1990s aesthetic that a lot of these emulators offer. I have a couple questions.

First off, does anyone know where I can get the software featured in this current ongoing live stream?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dw2AnRODshc

And second, how does one begin their exploration on their own weather emulation software? What are the prerequisites of building something like this on your own?

Thanks in advance.

You're actually in the right place, just need to visit this particular thread: https://twctodayforums.com/forums/news-and-updates/public-release-now-available-(dec-2017)

To build an emulator which handles live weather information, you need to be able to disseminate the data that originates at the NWS (or other sources, such as API's), process it and present it in a favorable way.

Hope this helps!

News and Updates / Public Release Now Available (Dec 2017)
« on: December 14, 2017, 08:57:40 PM »
Hi Folks,
Thanks for checking in, you're just in time! We have had some great success over the last few months with closed, former member, and soft opening trials of the emulator.

Now is your chance to configure the emulator for yourself. If you have never worked with program in the past, there are two halves.
1. CINE (The Configuration Interface for Networked Emulation) - This is the heart of where you control your emulator's experience. All settings and options are managed through this web-portal. Any changes made in the portal will propagate to the emulator as it is running. You have the ability to "cue" all changes, then when you are ready, select 'Build Now' in CINE.
2. The Weatherscan XL Emulator application, itself. This is the client-end application which, when configured with your selected ID, will download, present, and update forecast and other regional details around the clock while it is running.

So you would like to get started? We're just as excited as you are, and can't wait to have you!

When you get started building your first config to work with the emulator, we suggest simply starting off with the 'Local Forecast' package. This is just to make sure all works correctly on your system. Once you have a working Local Forecast loop, you're welcome to add in other products.

Please be sure to make sure all options are configured, so you can "Build Now" all of your settings!! --Very important!!

So you would like some help? It's quite alright, we have a live chat with humans just like you, and they are anxious to get you emulating too. We do this via the Discord Chat system. Join via this link from your computer or mobile app: https://discord.gg/fJWYb4T

So, you think you're ready now? Let's get started! Go visit CINE, create and validate your account information. Once you have completed this, then get building. Here's the link: http://wxcine.com:21863

Once again, we're happy to have you and we're excited your taking this opportunity to enjoy an emulator, which is a signature experience from not only mine, but other "The Weather Channel" viewers past.

Brian, I am really glad to see that this project is going after all these years. I definitely would love to beta test the program if I can since you know I have a CINE account if it's still not too late.

You're welcome to, just join Discord chat in the OP at the top.

I think I can do it too. I have used the Weatherstar 4000 emulator before, so all I need to do is sign up for the Discord service and hopefully I can run the software on my computer, and report any bugs if nessecary.

You're welcome to Beta test the emulator, as long as you have a CINE account. If you do not, stay tuned as we are getting ready for the public release in the coming days. You are also welcome to join the live discussion on our Discord chat.
