Latest Release Information / Re: Emulator Release - October 2012
« on: October 16, 2012, 12:42:14 PM »
Jim, Glad to hear this is working for you! Enjoy!

Works great! I did everything you said to do and downloaded the new release. Thanks Brian

Plane, I reviewed your config. I removed Traffic from your line up as it is not working properly. I need a new data source for it. I rebuilt your config. Try again and let me know if this works.

Thanks for the new release, Brian. I do have an issue when trying to run the emulator - I get the error message attached below. This is my first time using the emulator and I looked around the boards and didn't find an issue similar to this. Any ideas?

Latest Release Information / Emulator Release - October 2012
« on: October 16, 2012, 11:47:53 AM »
Hey guys,
Here is the next release of the emulator which fixes many of the issues seen as of late:
-Radar source changed. The emulator now uses wunderground maps.
-Changed location of resources online. URL's change over time. Updated and corrected.
-Cleaned up some code.
-Added Urban/City theme pack.
-Removed the beta Sat/Rad product, sorry this didn't work out.
-Removed the Registration Key function out of the program. Verifying your email address when creating your account is sufficient. This only complicated the install.

I have rebuilt the installer from scratch. This will REQUIRE that you have administrator privileges to install, and also to run. Running this on the user-level is not optional, and running on the user-level causes the program to function improperly. Releasing patches in .ZIP format seems too complicated, and also causes the Windows Installshield box to continuously pop-up.

When installing this, please make sure you back up your music directory, sponsor logos, and any customized themes. Uninstall the current version, and erase the C:\wsxl directory completely. This will complicate a clean install if you have not removed this directory and its content's.

To download the new copy, access the CINE server by going to http://wxcine.com:21863/
Login to the portal using your emulator credentials, then download the wizard from the link on the side menu under 'Downloads'.

To use this build of the emulator, access CINE. Select 'Review Cfg'n' from the side menu, and then select 'Build Now' under your configured settings. This will rebuild your active configuration to work with the new version.

All products should be working as of this writing, EXCEPT for Traffic. I have been unable to find a reliable resource for this data.

Enjoy! Please refer to the appropriate forum if any trouble is being experienced.

Help and Support / Re: Harmonic Tides - Invalid Location?
« on: October 15, 2012, 12:13:52 PM »
Zach, I fixed this problem as well. The Emulator was pulling in the coastal maps from an older URL. This will be available in my next release. I hope to get this together real soon. (maybe even today if time permits). Here is an image of what your Tides look like ..

I activated this product in your emulator. Please make sure that the tides show for you.

This was a server-side issue. When I moved the server to a different platform, I didn't check the tide calculator to make sure it was still calculating. I fixed this.

I added the following tides locations:
Current Configuration:

Tide Slot 1 Location: Port Manatee, Tampa Bay, Florida
Displayed as: Port Manatee, Tampa Bay

Tide Slot 2 Location: Safety Harbor, Old Tampa Bay, Florida
Displayed as: Safety Harbor, Old Tampa Bay

Everything Else Classic TWC / Re: Market East, Phila, PA TWC Feed
« on: October 12, 2012, 10:54:43 AM »
Nick,
Unfortunately, the only things that I do remember is that it showed the forecast data (not sure if only local to Phila, or was nation-wide), it bearded the name of TWC, and it was not the regular TWC feed with OCMs/Commercials/LF's.

Additionally, I fixed the below problem. I found out what was happening, this was server-related and this shouldn't happen anymore. This also corrected a problem with the Boating Forecast.

Also Brian, since I created a new user account.. I made the configuration to match my old CINE account and on the old CINE account you got the Extended Forecast to work for my area, but since I configured it to the new account it's showing up as blank again :hmm: can that be looked into as well? ID is Zach

Zach, I was able to implement into the emulator the following changes this evening:

-Replaced all TWC radar maps with wunderground radar maps.
-Removed the Sat/Rad radar at the end of the Local Forecast loop and replaced it with the Local Radar
-Placed the 'SponsorLogo' on the 'Warning' frame.

Heres a video clip:

All these updates will be available in the next release. Any more suggestions, please let me know..

Zach, I noticed the same thing yesterday when I fired up the emulator. It appears that the radar source that I was using (TWC) is no longer providing that base map coloring for this radar product. In my opinion, without the proper base map, it looks ugly. I was looking for alternatives that could be used instead and came across wunderground (who also provides the satellite imagery map). Let me know how you think these look..

Everything Else Classic TWC / Market East, Phila, PA TWC Feed
« on: October 09, 2012, 12:20:54 PM »
Back in the mid 90's my family used to take trips down to center city around the holidays. I remember back then there used to be CRT's above the platform in the Market East Septa station which showed a different feed of TWC. To my knowledge, it was a TWC feed, and showed a Weatherscan-style display continuously. In years since, the TV's have been removed. Does anyone happen to know what that (possible) alternate feed was that was displayed in the train station?

I will look into this for you. I have been out from the area for the last week so I have not had the ability to check on the forum. I will look into how your configured and see what is causing the issues you are reporting. (brotherb95)
