Hey Guys,
I have been uploading some full-length archival videos from VHS->DVD conversions I have done from Lee Molineux' tapes. These are un-cut and include entire on-air, commercials, and local forecast segments. Comments are welcome :)

Latest Release Information / Emulator Release - October 2012
« on: October 16, 2012, 11:47:53 AM »
Hey guys,
Here is the next release of the emulator which fixes many of the issues seen as of late:
-Radar source changed. The emulator now uses wunderground maps.
-Changed location of resources online. URL's change over time. Updated and corrected.
-Cleaned up some code.
-Added Urban/City theme pack.
-Removed the beta Sat/Rad product, sorry this didn't work out.
-Removed the Registration Key function out of the program. Verifying your email address when creating your account is sufficient. This only complicated the install.

I have rebuilt the installer from scratch. This will REQUIRE that you have administrator privileges to install, and also to run. Running this on the user-level is not optional, and running on the user-level causes the program to function improperly. Releasing patches in .ZIP format seems too complicated, and also causes the Windows Installshield box to continuously pop-up.

When installing this, please make sure you back up your music directory, sponsor logos, and any customized themes. Uninstall the current version, and erase the C:\wsxl directory completely. This will complicate a clean install if you have not removed this directory and its content's.

To download the new copy, access the CINE server by going to http://wxcine.com:21863/
Login to the portal using your emulator credentials, then download the wizard from the link on the side menu under 'Downloads'.

To use this build of the emulator, access CINE. Select 'Review Cfg'n' from the side menu, and then select 'Build Now' under your configured settings. This will rebuild your active configuration to work with the new version.

All products should be working as of this writing, EXCEPT for Traffic. I have been unable to find a reliable resource for this data.

Enjoy! Please refer to the appropriate forum if any trouble is being experienced.

Everything Else Classic TWC / Market East, Phila, PA TWC Feed
« on: October 09, 2012, 12:20:54 PM »
Back in the mid 90's my family used to take trips down to center city around the holidays. I remember back then there used to be CRT's above the platform in the Market East Septa station which showed a different feed of TWC. To my knowledge, it was a TWC feed, and showed a Weatherscan-style display continuously. In years since, the TV's have been removed. Does anyone happen to know what that (possible) alternate feed was that was displayed in the train station?

News and Updates / New users, need some details from you
« on: May 03, 2012, 04:39:44 PM »
Hey guys,
I am a little perplexed and need some clarification. I noticed since I opened the doors to the self-account creator, I have not heard any feedback from anyone. When I check server access logs, I note that a lot of people have worked their way around the configuration panel, but have not gone as far as actually running the emulator. This is what I need to know to help you out:
1. Do I need to create guides instructing how to use this emulator?
2. Does the emulator require too much instruction to use that I am loosing your attention?
3. Are you having installation troubles and giving up?

Please fill me in. If I have to create an instructional video documenting how to make the emulator work, I am glad to do this. I feel that something is lacking, and without proper documentation, the newbies to the emulator are giving up and moving on.

Thanks

News and Updates / New Users may create New accounts!
« on: April 26, 2012, 04:22:40 PM »
A lot of thought has been put into doing this. I have decided to allow our new users to create accounts. This will allow anyone who has been wanting an account to try out the emulator, or even allow existing users create another account for a new location! This will also give instant access to the emulator, instead of waiting for one of the administrator's to add your account. I am going to keep this simple and sweet: Please make sure that your using your REAL email address, no spam mail email addresses. This is used for account validation, and for direct communication with me. NO ABUSE! If there are any problems, please let us know!

You may create an account by simply visiting: http://www.wxcine.com:21863/

I am excited to open the doors for everyone, and I hope this brings a new exposure to this project a long with fresh ideas!

Enjoy!

Latest Release Information / Emulator Release - April 2012
« on: April 17, 2012, 07:19:13 PM »
This is quick and dirty fix release. To update the emulator, follow these steps.
-Login to CINE: http://copper.yi.org:21863
-Go to downloads and keys
-If you do not have the emulator installed on your computer (or now wish to use a new computer), install the main emulator release.
-Download the "April 2012 Release" archive
-Extract the .EXE files to C:\wsxl and extract the remainder images to C:\wsxl\main
-Run the SetAffiliate program to set your ID. (This is required or else the emulator will crash on start!)
-Run the emulator itself. (Key dialog will appear to 'Get a Key' if this is a new install)

This is a quick maintenance release to correct the source that the Radar maps are retrieved from. I did not have the opportunity to verify, but I believe that Traffic is eternally broke as the traffic provider (Yahoo!) does not relay traffic details anymore. All other products should be working.

Please advise if you are having any issues. Also post your ID you are working with if you need support!!

News and Updates / Feb 2011 Update
« on: February 23, 2011, 11:09:19 PM »
Here is the long awaited update to the emulator which includes updated 36 Hour Forecast/Coastal Waters Forecast text fonts, Tides, and even the Airport Package!

This release is offered as a Development release as there are certain aspects that still need to be worked on (such as icon decision on the Airport Package).

Please check inside CINE to grab this update!

Installation is very basic, If you already have weatherscan installed, extract the executables to the main directory of C:\wsxl, then extract the images to c:\wsxl\main .. can't be any more simplistic :) You will run the new wsxl executable with the long name to run this development version.

Also, I have placed a bypass on the one key limit for this and the previous build of the emulator. The key is still generated for your hardware, however this is done to help aid anyone who would otherwise need their current key purged.

Enjoy!

The Game Room / Movie One-Liners! (Message reply game)
« on: July 25, 2010, 03:42:50 AM »
I'd figure this would be a fun game since I have my one liners. The way this works is when you respond, you must specify who the previous post's one-liner was from. For example, if i said "You lack dicipline!", you would reply specifying its from Kindergarten Cop. You may even add that it was from Arnie ;) .. So then with that, you can put a one-liner out there for someone else to take a shot at. I will start this one off..

"I would like to buy a hamburger." (hehe)

General Discussion / Looking for a relationship (between numbers!!)
« on: July 23, 2010, 08:35:04 AM »
hey guys,
i am working with some radar stuff, but i am busting my head on the wall trying to figure this one solution out. in this topic, i am not going to cite any numbers inorder to keep this simple and sweet.

-I have two images, a basemap and radar data. given known area that the basemap and radar data populate (respectively), I am trying to overlay the radar data with a relationship between the numbers i can't quite figure out.
-The local area's center is plotted on an X, Y axis by both images, however the resolution on each image is different (and not the same aspect either).
-What i can always determine is what X, Y coordinate will be used on the basemap, however, i cannot co-relate a known X,Y coordinate for the radar data's center because the layer is a different size.

What I do have is a few examples of location exact X,Y coordinates both known on the basemap and on the radar data layer in an effort to determine a relationship between the numbers. I appologize, this may be very simple graphing arithmetic using proportions, but it has been many years since I touched a math problem. If someone is willing to lend a hand with this, please message me on AIM (cc17926). I will not leave you empty handed for any effort given!
Thank You!!
