Everything Else TWC / Re: Blooper Thread
« on: July 29, 2007, 08:04:44 AM »
My IS had a radar blooper earlier. For some reason, snow appeared on the last frame of the radar (we all know it can snow at 80 degrees :P), and because of that, the winter precip. indicators showed up under the radar titlebar. That's the last thing you expect to see in Florida! :D
Same thing just happened to me last night...but it was 72 degrees, not 80. :p I'll have a video posted shortly.

Currently getting a nice soaking of (needed) rain due to a very slowly moving thunderstorm cell. We're actually under a flood advisory!

My router is a Linksys, and here is what my 11 is:

Not sure if it's the same, but it might help.

I know you can do this for Linksys routers, but in your router's configuration page (if it has one), you may be able to change the frequency that the router operates at.
It has an option to change the channel. Is that the same thing? And we've tried it - it doesn't work.
Yes. That would be the same thing. :/

Just curious, what make/model wireless router do you have? Because there's a high chance that the router is also operating at 2.4 GHz.
The modem is a Westell Versalink Model 327W. It's a modem/router combination, in the sense that it connects to the DSL service, and then routes the connection to all the computers.

Our cordless phone is 2.4 GHz, IIRC.

I guarantee it will continue to work. What's strange though, is that I have my modem and router set up in my living room, and my cordless telephone only sits about 5 or 6 feet away, yet I haven't experienced any disconnection problems (certainly not on the scale of what you went through).

Of course, they have different types of cordless phones, and different types may cause different amounts and types of interference. Some operate on the 900mhz band, some operate at 1Ghz or more, and then there's those spectrum spread telephones. So I guess it could all depend on exactly what kind of cordless phones you have.
We have a 5.7 GHz cordless phone that's less then three feet from our wireless router, and we've never had any connection problems whatsoever. Same case with our old 900 MHz cordless phone...

I'll repaste me.  Just pretend to laugh if you already read it to keep the thread going :P

What I did find hilarious was a story a friend told me the other day.  She remembers honking the horn because someone had cut her off, but the car was so crappy that the horn didn't stop sounding, so she had to drive all the way home with the horn blaring BEEEP.
:rofl2:

Billy, that's almost IDENTICAL to my laptop.  I love it.  What I find REALLY irrirating is the glossy finish the cover has.  It's nice, but once you try to carry it, SPLODGE, there's a handprint right there, and you feel so compelled as to clean it off. <_<

Also, was it any faster when you reformatted your computer?  Mine acts a little slow at times.

Also, did your laptop have any rebates?  Free $$$.  Brought my price down to $768.

Hope you enjoy it 8)
Yeah. I find all the glossy surfaces to be a tad bit annoying. I just got it today, and it's already all smudged up.

I haven't really noticed a speed difference, but I only spent a few minutes running it with the factory defaults. I imagine it would be faster. I quickly looked through the Task Manager and there was alot running.

Got a $100 rebate on it, and free shipping. :)
