My MSN Hotmail account was changed to the new "Windows Live" format, and I hate it. The format is too confusing and it takes a lot longer to load since it's more graphics intensive. I also just dislike the overall layout.

Is there any other web client I can use my Hotmail address in? I'd like to switch clients but use the same email address.
Windows Live Mail seems fine to me. I actually find the interface simpler than that of the old Hotmail. IIRC, you can set up Hotmail accounts in Outlook or Outlook Express.

General Discussion / Re: Laptop Battery Life
« on: September 13, 2007, 08:06:08 PM »
In Vista, if you click the battery icon in the system tray, you can set it to "Power Saver" to save some battery life. There is also a link on that popup for the "Windows Mobility Center" there you can set things like the Display Brightness. If you put that on the lowest setting when on battery power, you can save some battery life because the LCD back-lightning doesn't have to be on full-strength.

Also, you can change some power things in Control Panel > Power Settings. There you can change around all of the power settings, again like display brightness, when the computer goes to sleep, and when the computer display shuts off.

Also, if you don't need to be online when on battery power, some laptops have the option to turn off the wireless signal; wireless uses a lot of power.

LOL, may I ask what source you go that info from?  :D

It will surely be before January or December. I hope to have another one done by Thanksgiving.
How about another one on thanksgiving?
No. I say we avoid holidays and weekends indefinitely. Most people spend their Thanksgivings with their friends and families, and most are probably away from home.

That beats out my laptop... I get a 2.7 for the Windows Experience Index.
Where can I find out my computer's experience index?
It's a Vista-only feature. So if you're running any other OS, you're out-of-luck.

If you do have Vista, it's Control Panel (or right click "Computer" > Properties) > System > click "Windows Experience Index"
