How come the 3000 and JR never display icons or maps?
Because they weren't designed to, nor do they have the ability to do so.

Does anyone have footage of what the 3000 showed on the ID screen in 2004?

i dont think i ever saw footage like that. I have only seen 3 STAR 3000 videos!

Is there video of a Junior's station ID screen?

The junior doesn't show a cable provider, ID, or a channel. It simply says "NewspaperL 53130" or "Radio 53140" I was wondering if the 3000 did that as well.

EDIT: You can see some of it here at about 6 minutes in the video.

The "Newspaper L" thing only started happening recently, maybe within the past 12 months. I highly doubt the 3000 ever showed that. I'm willing to bet the 3000's ID hasn't changed since the late 1980s/early 1990s.

Shaun has video of a junior in March 2006 showing the NewspaperL thing. Would 3000s show a cable provider logo, ID, and a channel?

I doubt the 3000 could ever show a cable company graphical logo. My guess it still had this layout in 2004:

When did the satellite ldl debut?
For DirecTV, it was July 2004. For Dish, it was September 2006.

Confirmed, the KSMI Weather Channel's STAR will offically run off of Scientific Atlanta's Explorer 2000 Hardware!

So your STAR will be a cable box?

And Storm Stories.
That was added several months before the '03 relaunch, in January of that year, IIRC.
Yep, it premiered January 6, 2003.

What does the tide screen on the 3000 look like?

Looks pretty much like the one on the Jr.
