Well...I would like to share an "undertaking" that I'll soon be taking part in. I've finally decided to build my own computer. The laptop I've had for two years now has almost ground to a halt, and the hard drive is a little too small for what I'll be doing in the future and what I've been doing. Namely:
- web site development
- light software development
- Flash design and programming
- my TV tuner
- gaming
- 3-D modeling (mainly for personal use)
Here's some of the stuff I want to get. I think a couple of you are a little more versed in this stuff than I am...maybe some advice?
Case
Processor + Motherboard
I've already got a video card, hard drive(s), and a DVD drive.
Congrats. Welcome to the other side...

Anyway, the case looks fine (reminds me of a Compaq case), but that processor and motherboard are extremely outdated. The AMD 939 architecture is ancient in computing terms. If you're going to go AMD, look look for a socket AM2 motherboard and processor. And I HIGHLY recommend getting a dual core processor like an AMD Athlon 64 X2. Pretty much all computers sold today have multiple cores. If you plan to do any gaming or video editing, dual core WILL pay off.
