General Discussion / Re: The Front Porch
« on: March 21, 2008, 05:10:39 PM »
My laptop battery died because I left it on the entire way back from school this afternoon. It says "3% available (plugged in, not charging)".

Why would it not be charging the battery?

I was talking to Trammell very recently (within the past week or two), and he has expressed some interest in making new instrumental music, like what was featured on TWC, but nothing is set in stone yet.

Today at 12:43 PM ET, they showed a P. Allen Smith gardening segment. I thought that they discontinued the segments with Smith.

Everything Else TWC / Re: TWC Schedule
« on: March 21, 2008, 01:51:35 AM »
I'm too lazy to type out a full schedule but I think it is ESSENTIAL that overnight outlook return. I know long form programming is here to stay (I'm OK with most of it right now except for Storm Stories and Forecast Earth). But in press releases TWC constantly talks about how its a "24/7" network. Uh, not exactly. There's what, 3-4 hours each overnight with no live programming? Especially during severe weather situations I think overnight programming is critical. Many local stations are off the air at the time and having TWC live with severe weather coverage would be nice. Hopefully OO makes a return in the future.
Actually, there are only two hours overnight with no live programming (2 AM - 4 AM ET), but I believe there have been cases where EEWC has run live all night, like for approaching tropical systems, and major severe weather outbreaks.

Anyone know why Viv and Dave had this apple sitting on the middle of the desk today?

I thought they were yellow last year. If not, then I must be thinking of the 2006 ones.

Here are the Spring lower thirds:

IIRC, they were more yellow in previous years.

Local Forecast / Re: Trammell Sightings
« on: March 20, 2008, 04:36:57 PM »
I don't know what everyone on SD saw, but over on the HD channel, the failures continue. We saw the LF opener at 3:28 CT, but when it came time for the actual LF, we saw a frozen first frame of the Weather Center opener until the emergency feed kicked in and stayed on for the rest of the LF.
Here, the IntelliStar queued right after a weather.com/tv LF opener.

edit: anyone think discussion should be split into a new topic?

Local Forecast / Re: Trammell Sightings

Although I didn't hear any Trammell (I was busy doing homework :P), at 4:18 PM ET, the local ads ran, and when they were finished, there was a frozen commercial on the national feed, then my IntelliStar kicked in with a 1:30 flavor, and strangely, the Week Ahead appeared at the end of the LF, not the Extended Forecast.

Hmm, that's news to me.  I've never used the word "werd"
I can't say I've ever used the word "werd," but I've heard it used before.
