Local Forecast / Re: Satellite LF Sightings
« on: January 25, 2011, 01:17:50 PM »
Satellite LF at 4:08 PM EST, the usual time

There has to be a reason for this, but what could it be? :dunno:

Some Intellistars in the Northeast still had Wind Chill Advisories/Warnings still fed in the system (which expired at 11am) but the Satellite LF was cued to fix the error.

Wow - there actually was an answer!!  :worship:
Not really. That was just a coincidence. That may explain this one isolated case, but it certainly doesn't explain all of the other xx:08 Satellite LFs that happen on a fairly regular basis. Furthermore, a sighting of a Satellite LF on cable is not a cue of the satellite LF itself, but a failure of the cable STAR to cue.

Went out yesterday to visit the local wind farm. If you've never seen one of these wind turbines up close, they're MASSIVE. These two are each nearly 400 feet tall (not sure of the height of the cell tower in the foreground). This picture was taken about three-tenths of a mile away from the turbines. I'm going to try to get some closer shots in the coming weeks.

My school's internet seems to be a bit faster this semester, but it's still unbearable most of the time.

General Discussion / Re: What Type of Cell Phone Do You Have?
« on: January 20, 2011, 03:56:22 PM »
Got the Droid Incredible for Christmas... goodbye old obsolete enV3 that kept turning off on me! I just wish the internet would work on my phone while I'm talking to someone on the phone.

That is one of the limitations of the CDMA network that Verizon (and Sprint) use. CDMA (and EV-DO for 3G internet) do not allow simultaneous use of data and voice from one handset. When LTE is available on Verizon, those new handsets should solve the issue, for LTE is a GSM-based technology, which doesn't suffer from the inherit voice/data problem that CDMA has.

Has anything been in the old A&B studio since...A&B? What about (what was going to be) Lightning Rod?
LR was in what is know the DMC (I think).
Same studio. Weekend View and Abrams & Bettes shared a studio pre-HD studio. It was then converted to the Digital Media Center last year.

Local Forecast / Re: Recently received Trammell Starks' LF CDs
« on: January 15, 2011, 10:26:52 PM »
Speaking of Trammell's CDs, I recently emailed Trammell about the availability of sheet music for his Local Forecast music. He said sheet music isn't available, unfortunately.

He did say, however, that he is planning on releasing new music in his Local Forecast Music style and to keep tabs on his website, trammellstarks.com, for any updates. Hopefully, he will send his new music into TWC. I'd love to hear new Trammell music on a regular TWC playlist.

Most of my friends have AT&T. In fact, I only know a few people in my area who have Verizon or Sprint, and I know nobody with T-Mobile. AT&T has a stronghold in my area.

The squeezeback during long-form looks interesting. I guess they're unhappy with their previous two attempts (the original L-bar and the current "L"-bar?)
