Has anyone seen regional openers for the new graphics packages other than First Outlook and Evening Edition? Those are the only ones I've seen so far.
I believe I've seen them used for Day Planner.

But isn't that precisely the reason that the Weather STAR 3000 was discontinued? It couldn't sound an alert tine each time a warning was displayed.

Do the rules and regulations that regulate cable differ from those residing over OTA TV?

The local Fox affiliate, WPMT 43, is occasionally crawling information about a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect in Berks county. Each time information crawled across the bottom of the screen, there was no audible alert. Then they showed a map with the warnings on it, and the warning for Berks county was shown, along one for Adams County, which expired 45 minutes ago.

Isn't that against FCC regulations to be showing the warning, but have no audible alert?

A minute ago, they used an EE side graphic displaying information on protecting your house during a hurricane. Of course, it was only useful to HD viewers.
Yeah, those tips involving "Storm shutte" were really useful.

With the recent severe weather we've had here, I'm wondering how dual feed Weather Updates will be preformed in the future when all the shows are moved in the HD studio. Obviously, they couldn't do the weather update from the video projector wall because that would be in use by the main show already in progress. Would they have to use the new key wall in the HD studio? Or would TWC keep another wall open somewhere else in the building just for weather updates?

For a change, the first segment of Evening Edition actually ran about a minute short instead of a few minutes long. It ended a few seconds after the clock flipped to 9:06 PM ET.

Nope. They were still in SD this morning.

Saw the satellite LF (with DirecTV/Dish LDL) on a TV screen in a home during a Weather Ready segment that aired at 6:44 PM ET. :P

It was obviously an old segment, as it was the old August 2005 version with old icons.

Programming and Graphics / Climate Code set?
« on: June 23, 2008, 05:03:18 PM »
I came across this screenshot of the Climate Code's set:

Does anyone know where the set was located? I'd assume that it was where the current Forecast Earth set is located, inside the former Weekend View/Abrams & Bettes studio.

Wow, I hadn't realized that the original version of "Simple Pleasure" had been recorded on 8-track tape. That version sounded very clear when it originally played on TWC. If you don't mind me asking, how long ago did you record the song?
